[Recommend] Beach withing driving distance of Zurich

Can anyone recommend a good beach within driving distance of Zurich - beside the sea and not a lake (I love swimming in the lake but want to take my kids to the sea for a few days)

Thanks

Sharon

Drive to Liguria, turn right when you hit the coast and cruise along slowly, elbow outta the window, until you find a parking place.

Wear suncream

hmmm let see.

Drive down the A1 until the people start speaking Italian and continue to drive further south until you reach the sea.

All beaches are within driving distance from Zurich. All you need to do is to check out this link

If you head south through the Gotthard tunnel, don't do it over Easter unless you're creative with your timing.

I think the question is reasonable. Drive to the beach by the sea?

Re: Best Beach withing driving distance of Zurich

I know that there are lots of beaches within driving distance I just wondered if there was a particularly good one to visit - my kids don't like my husbands driving style (ie too fast for them - plus he likes driving so wants somewhere that is a nice drive rather than just the motorway) so I'd rather we had a goal in mind - France / Italy - rather than just driving til we find the first one... Sorry if I didn't make that clear enough in my first post - somehow I'm not on top form wit wise this week....

I think you'll find many beaches on the north-western coastline are nice - plus Rimini too:

France is ok too but in many areas, you might find instead of sand you have pebble beaches. That's worth checking.

Mars-eille has sandy beach but if time really permits driving along the french coastline until Barcelona is wicked.

You might want to check on the state of the sea water pollution before making a final decision. At some times and places it's not very acceptable.

Of course it you really want a good time, and have some time, drive to Genova and take a ferry to Sardinia or Sicily.

I would say either the Adriatico Coast (Rimini and such) or Liguria.
The Adriatico coast and the West coast of Liguria (west of Genova) have big sandy beaches. The ones on the Adriatico sea are the biggest but I would say the sea is nicer and cleaner in Liguria (the towns and the sorroundings are nicer too).
The East coast of Liguria is really nice too (it's were I go) , but with fewer and smaller sandy beaches, but it's def worth a visit, in particular the 5 Terre!
and the food is fantastic!
Ifyou are looking for Caribbean style beaches, go to Sardinia, no doubt, but it's pretty far away so it's not convenient for just a few days or a weekend.
cheers

I would go for France rather than Italy. Italy has too many access restrictions to the beaches for my taste.

Nice is nice and you can take the Napoleon-route one of the ways for some views and nice roads.

instead of France (crowded) & Italy - Luguria (crowded), Rimini (filthy water), why not try on the Eastern side of the Adriatic ?

Koper peninsula in Slovenia is nice as is Krk etc on the upper Croatian coast. Also a very scenic drive down, or you can take an overnight sleeper from Zürich.
