Re: Train - Basel - Bern

If the train you catch stops at Liestal (you'll need to check the specific train you catch, as not all do) then you can buy a Liestal-Bern ticket with your U-Abo. Otherwise you need to buy Basel-Bern.

Similarly you can buy Bern-Liestal on the return journey, as long as the train will stop in Liestal.

You can buy the ticket in Basel (or online); you don't need to physically buy it in Liestal, but the train must stop there. There's an option on the ticket machine to change the departure point.

Re: Train - Basel - Bern

Try the tnw web site then. It shows you how far the U-Abo extends. And it depends what you mean by best - fastest? most scenic? cheapest?
