Recommended day trips for a Sunday Walk?

Me and a friend are wanting to go on a bit of an adventure tomorrow.

We have both been in Switzerland only 4 weeks, and were au pairs so havent really had the opportunity to venture out properly and see somewhere beautiful. Well...all of Switzerland is beautiful but, i mean...somewhere special.

Can anyone recommend anywhere?

I live in Thalwil and my friend lies in Brugg.

We were thinking of Uetliberg as theres a good paragraph about it in the Lonely Planet booklet.

Thanks guys!

The Uetlibergstrasse trip is definitely worth while. I recommend lunch afterwards in the restaurant which is just beyond the top of the cable car station at Felsenegg

Re: Recommended day trips for a Sunday Walk?

If you are willing to train before you walk, My favorite passtime is enjoying all the very very cool day trips the SBB puts on discount each month. Affordable usually, and include discounted admission/etc. We take one of these each month. I have two children, and they travel free with me with a juniorcard, making this awesome and affordable family time, especially with a few drinks and sandwiches thrown into a daypack.

here is one that is inexpensive (36 chf) with a half fare card from zurich, http://www.sbb.ch/en/leisure-holiday...engelberg.html

and generally, here is a place to search for them each month, there is always one trip half off, and 5-10 that are 30% off. The discount picks change on the first of the month. This is how I have gotten to see most of switzerland over the past 5 years being here:

You could go to Appenzell for a day trip, lovely place! Otherwise I'd also recommend Uetliberg for something closer to Zurich. You can also rent sleds there at this time of year
