Cable Wakeboarding?

Okay. My son wants to do this for his birthday so I've been trying to find information but I'm not having much luck. Can anyone help?

It seems as though the only place that does this in Switzerland will not be operating this season. Is this accurate?

The place that keeps popping up and that my son's friend has been to is in Pfullendorf Germany. In prior threads here (4 years old) people said it can't be accessed without a car - I'm thinking this is just the preferred method. (Seems to be over 4 hrs by train.) Can anyone verify this who has actually taken public transport from Zurich maybe? And is there anything else to do in Pfullendorf for those of us not participating?

Anyplace else to go? Don't mind going to Germany, just looking for a fun place to go, stay the weekend maybe, and let my son give this a try. Public transport is a requirement - no car.

Thanks!

Re: Cable Wakeboarding?

Not too far! I'll try googling it. Thanks!

Opps - I think that's Alphasurf - that's the one that I found that said there would be no cable for 2015. Hmmm. Will keep checking on it.

Re: Cable Wakeboarding?

That's what immediately came to mind; wasn't sure if it were still running or not. Estavayer is easily accessible from the A1 motorway.

Re: Cable Wakeboarding?

Found it again - it is in Weesen where there is no cable this season. Yeah! Thanks for the help now to plan the day.

Re: Cable Wakeboarding?

How about camping at the VD8 campsite in Yvonand?

However, do keep in mind that the kids will be on their face and back in the water for the first day- so having 2 sessions for fewer kids over 2 days may work better. When I used to take teenagers snowboarding, it was always a shock how difficult it actually is, as some thought they would be doing tricks and jumps by day 1! (and quite a bit *issed off their 50+ overweight female teacher was much better than they were great news for my 'street cred', lol.

I can't find anything on the site that says it won't be operating the cable in 2015.

Estavayer le lac is easily accessible by train from Zurich. It takes just put over two hours with a change of train in Fribourg or about 2h15 with two changes.

There are plenty of things to do in the area.

Re: Cable Wakeboarding?

My son would vote yes but my husband would definitely vote NO to camping of any sort. LOL. Will probably look for a hotel in Neuchatel. That happens to be an area of Switzerland we haven't visited yet so will defect for a weekend getaway.

Re: Cable Wakeboarding?

Well, depending on time tabling, you can get across to Estavayer by boat from Neuchâtel and back again. Personally, if timetabling does not work out- and you use public transport, I'd stay in the Estavayer area, or Yverdon.

Re: Cable Wakeboarding?

I think getting the boat across and staying in Neuchâtel sounds like a pretty cool thing to do personally. You could then explore the Neuchâtel area the next day.

I think Neuchatel has more interesting things for a teenage boy than either Yverdon or Estavayer ( wake boarding aside) although Yverdon has a very nice spa ( for mom)
There's not an awful lot do do in Estavayer itself and getting around the surrounding area using public transport may take a bit of planning.

Hmmm....we are celebrating his birth and I am of course the one that deserves some pampering for that!

thank you everyone for all the ideas. I'll run it by him this evening and hopefully we will have a plan in place! Yeah!

The square cable circuit is shown just offshore,

It IS open from May 2015 to 25th September 2015, best to reserve a place on the wire, phone ahead - it is not open in bad weather,
