baden or brugg? jurapark aargau even?

im going to the Schinznach Thermalbad on Sunday ... but apart from visitng this place are there any other places nearby to see to pad out our overnight stay in the area (as yet not sure where we'll stay). i guess a visit to baden or brugg might be nice?

also: looking at google maps, it says the JURAPARK AARGAU is next door too. Does anyone know if this is lovely and thus worth going to?

thanks anyone!

There are several castles nearby, Schloss Wildegg just a couple minutes away, Schloss Lenzburg maybe 20 minutes. Roman amphitheatre in Brugg, also nearby.

Lenzburg oldtown is worth a visit, our favorite Chinese restaurant in Switzerland is there... Hou Hou. Also has a great English speaking Irish Pub, McArthurs.

This is for a family without children or with older children:

You can see the old Baden in under 2 to 3 hours topped with a beautiful promenade on the Limmat where you can dip your already sauna-ed footsies in the thermalbank (free thermal foot bath on the Limmat). Then go eat dinner at the posher Chinese restaurant "The Smiling Fish" next to the train station. If you lived in N America, you'll understand why the "posh" qualifier. Of course, the food is Swiss Chinese, but the cleanliness is Swiss. There is an artsy movie theater, right by the Postautostation.

Brugg is very tiny, the "old town" is "the old street".

If you like to walk, you can go to Turgi by train/bus, and then walk to the Wasserschloss, where the Reuss goes into the Aare - about 3 Km.

Have fun in the exciting Aargau!

There is some kind of event with guided walks and talks about the Habsburg history and castles of the area on this weekend.. I've already recycled the leaflet so don't have any more details.

In Schinznach Dorf the Zulauf Baumschul (nursery) is well worth a visit. It has a huge collection of interesting plants, schrubs, flowers.... and a fantastic Bonsai collection. A walk around their gardens, including the little lake, is thoroughly enjoyable.

At the weekend you can ride throigh their estate on a preserved steam train, which runs half hourly throughout the afternoon.

Re: baden or brugg? jurapark aargau even?

just wanted to say thanks for the ideas in fact we opted for the FunnyBone / tigerli Aargau experience . Viz, for post-thermalbad frolics we chose baden and for pre thermalbad plant-nursery visiting we chose the plant-nursery. Saying that we never made it to the plant nursery because we smoked some plants (out of respect, obviously) of our own and forgot to get off the train at the right place. Whoops! thus we spent ages in next-stop Frick waiting for a train back to the start and wasted a whole lot of time. But we got to see Frick! it turns out that in 2007 a huge dinosaur graveyard was uncovered at Frick: my guess is mass suicide. boom boom. Baden was great. we stayed at the hotel du parc and hired their bikes and rode down river: it was all very picturesque. then it started pissing it down and that was that.
