Re: Anyone took the ferry from Crete to Santorini
It is more than 10 years since I did the day trip from Heraklion
Because of poor communication on the ferry I was too late to get off 1st stop. The other stop, one has the choice of going up steep cliff by donkey, but most took, forget the name, like ski lift train. No cars were on that route & do not believe access that side for one
Only had a few hours there to walk around that town at the top and stop for lunch.
The ferry itself was awful, many hours and food awful, un eatable. The lady next to me announced her scrambled eggs were off, I had wondered what was wrong with her nose as the smell told me they were rotten. Think I just had a bit of bread.
I would not do that day trip again. If you would like to visit, would strongly suggest at least an overnight stay or two.
I believe but not sure, the first stop could be part of a tour of the island, visiting sites & perhaps ending up at the 2nd port for return home, or perhaps some spent the night there and returned next day or night!
Obviously everything will be more expensive on Santorini compared to Crete, as beleived most things have to be imported to Santorini as it is volcanic island.
Hopefully one day will make it back to spend some days there. Certainly a very pretty island.
