- I will need and have to find a new one.
This.

I keep my favorite bag packed with all the essentials so that I'm ready to travel at any moment. Finding a new bag is a pain in the proverbial I would rather do without.

But be that as it may...

I only travel with carry-on, never checked luggage, as O'Hare has a carry-on only arrival line that gets you through immigration in about 10 seconds. Given that the flight I take (assuming it's on time) arrives just before the (worst of the) Chicago rush hour, skipping the long immigration line and the wait for baggage saves countless headaches.

Counter productive. I like to fly with only carry on, without checkng in luggage, so I can zip out after landing. But if compelled to check in luggage, I would add to foot traffic and their baggage handling overhead. They should have larger carry on limits, and encourage it. Not smaller, and discourage it.
That makes sense. Perhaps they should have a larger size limit for anyone who only has carry on luggage and a very small limit for anyone who also has hold luggage.

This would hopefully avoid the delays of staff shuffling luggage around to get the last few bags into the lockers

And anyone checking in luggage would get a discount

For the moment it's just a recommendation, but you can be sure many airlines will adopt it quickly, as it means more revenue from checked bags.
Revenue from ancillary charges, apart from the ticket itself, generated over 30 billion USD globally in 2013 which was more than 20% of many airlines total revenues - projected to double by year's end

From 2007 to 2013, most carriers saw their ancillary fees increase by more than 800%.

Post 9/11 hysteria was bad enough in militarizing the travel industry but FAA deregulation in the 70s is probably the biggest culprit for the unethical practices of airlines

So looking for a new laptop wheelie to fly with today, deciding between two top branded, ridiculously priced favourites and turns out that neither were within the new limits. Turns out that none in the store would be allowed if they bring in the new size. Major dilemma , dare I risk it .... Hey ho, new handbag from Mulberry it is then ! Stick with worn out wheelie for a bit longer until they decide whether to implement or not.

Reminds me of the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers - Idiots Aboard, where Phineas puts all of his clothes on.

Aldi in UK have trolley bags within the new size limit on offer this week. It may be worth checking Aldi Suisse. They have them from 18th June

It seems that some people dislike the luggage restrictions on EasyJet
