An SBB day-pass

Hi guys,

Any must-see places? I have an SBB day pass left over and leave next week back home.

I am considering the following trip:

Zurich -> St. Moritz -> Tirano -> Lugano -> Zurich

I've looked it up and it's easily possible in a day. The idea is to get the most value out of the ticket and seeing as much as possible. I don't mind time constraints, I'm a lone traveller so wasting time chatting shouldn't be a problem!

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

You should take the train from (Swiss) Locarno Fart station to Domodosola station in Italy, it is known as the Centovalli railway, and is extremely beautiful.

The Swiss day pass covers this route in Italy, but you have to pay an extra CHF 2.0 (€2) for the panoramic train. It is important to try and get a window seat, on the south side of the carriage.

That is a long journey for one day but there probably isn't a better train journey in Switzerland in my opinion. It would be worth paying a surcharge for a seat in the Panorama car for the Bernina Express section

This sounds like a wonderful idea. How do I pay the extra €2? Is there a certain ticket machine or do I need to do it in advance?

Thanks!

P.S. Why is it called Locarno Fart? Excuse the immaturity

EDIT: Did some research and know the answer to both. Thank you!
