1-2 day bike trips from Basel

Hello,

I will be arriving in Basel next week and would like to take a 1-2 day bike trip. Are there any bike shops or tour companies that organize short (1-2 day) bike trips? Also where is the best place to rent a bike? If I have to go it alone, any suggestions on moderate, scenic bike rides from Basel. I would like to ride one day , stay over and then return.

Thanks

Rent-A-Bike, which is affiliated with the Swiss rail company, lists 86 tours on its website. They also, of course, rent bikes:

Thank you so much. I will definitely rent a bike there. Are these self guided tours? It looks that way from the website.

Do you think it is necessary to reserve the bike in advance or are there always a lot of bikes available?

1. The Rent-A-Bike website has a Reservation tab at the Tour level.
2. You could check the weather forecast the day before and then make the reservation based on the weather forecast.
3. I looked at the number of bicycles available for a number of the tours to judge which ones were popular. The tour with possibly the greatest number of bicycles, about 200, is Airolo to Biasca (#12).
- You could buy an all-in ticket through RailAway, taking the train from Basel to Airolo. Then ride 40km on your rented bicycle downhill direction Biasca, stopping at a Grotto for lunch, e.g., Grotto dei Due Ponti. Then continue to Biasca and drop bicycle there. Return to Basel on train. This would be a full day.

Also, these tours are self-guided with signs.
