Gemeinde Tagerskarte and travelling with children

Hello EF,

My friend is visiting to me along with his family next month. for 3 days they will go for sightseen in Switzerland and i have booked Gemeinde Tagerskarte for him and his wife.

my question is, for his six year old daughter can I buy the "1-day travelpass for children" from SBB?

http://www.sbb.ch/en/travelcards-and-tickets/tickets-for-switzerland/1-day-travelpass/1-day-travelpass-for-children.html

I know for foreign Adults this is not possible as you would need half fare card to buy 1 day travel pass from SBB.

Does someone have prior experience with similar situation?

Thank You.

Yep, no problem at all.

As it says on the SBB link, "Up to four children can travel with each adult, who must be in possession of a valid ticket".

The Gemeinde pass is a valid ticket, so it is fine that none of them have half-tax.

Re: Gemeinde Tagerskarte and travelling with children

All kids who accompany a paying adult with a valid ticket can buy the 1 day card. We did this for family who was visiting us and the parents bought the gemiende cards and we purchased the junior cards for the kids since they were travelling for 5 days. The kids have to travel with the parents at all times. This is priced at CHF 30 for the year so makes a better value than multiple day cards. On areas where the junior card is not valid it acts as a half fare card in most places for kids. Have a look to see which would suit you more.

You might also check the special tickets from Coop at the moment for day trip travel at 49 chf (don't need half tax), but I think they are only valid till 12 Oct. Sbb also have some good autumn deals where you acn bring companions cheaply if one person has a half tax, could be worth checking if traveling in a group!

Thank you everyone. best is to buy a junior travelcard for CHF 30. with this most of the mountains allows free entry to cardholder.

I think you can buy the Tageskarte for children at all SBB machines.
