Ski Accomadation

Hi,

Have family coming over with kids for skiing in Feb 2016 and want to try and find somewhere we can stay relatively cheaply. From Feb 16th for at least a couple of nights, through to Sunday if possible. Was looking at Churwalden/Lenzerheide.

Any suggestions?

Re: Ski Accomadation

Sadly the most expensive week in the ski resorts, the UK and French school holidays, where prices x3 or more. But maybe someone here has a miracle up their sleeve. How many people? Would dorms be ok or are you looking for en-suite bathrooms for every room- self-catering or Hôtel. What leverl of skiers?

Re: Ski Accomadation

My brothers girls are 6 and 7 and have never skied. My son aged 11 can ski and board.

Will talk to them to see if they want a hotel or if dorms would be ok.

Thanks N.

Re: Ski Accomadation

smaller skifields like hochwang or brambrüesch will be cheaper all round (accommodation, day passes etc.) but also...smaller. sufficient for beginners though i reckon and very family friendly.

Re: Ski Accomadation

Well I stayed at Bettmeralp. A great place and free of cars. And good ski schools

Re: Ski Accomadation

Switzerland and cheap accommodation don't occur in the same sentence! Often the hotels and B&B only accept reservations for 7 nights.

If you can manage a week, go to Austria, much better for families.

Alternatively you could make day trips out to resorts using the SBB skiing offers,

Re: Ski Accomadation

I'd second Austria, particularly Damüls. It's close and family friendly with good pistes and off-piste

Re: Ski Accomadation

On the dorm room side, you often see families in Swiss Youth Hostels, especially during ski season. Even places like St. Moritz and Zermatt have them. They tend to be pretty nice for hostels, and it sounds like you have enough people to take a whole room or two. It might be getting late to make reservations though.

Also, the best choice might depend on your transportation plans, e.g. if you have a car anyway and prefer to drive, Zermatt becomes slightly harder, and much of Austria becomes easier.
