Stilnox was lifesaver for me too. The doctor told me it's what airline pilots use after trips. Even half a tablet was enough to get me to sleep and I would wake up feeling pretty good, able to function and not at all drowsy.
Looking at the time of this post, maybe i could do with some now. There's only me and one other member online in the forum right now. How sad is that?

It is not sad, it is a sleeping disorder....

Sounds like a lot of advice from people with existing sleep disorders.

Here's what I do on transatlantic in both directions. It works, but requires a little discipline:

Direction North America (West): Upon arrival in your destination force yourself to stay awake and go to bed at your normal time. If you didn't sleep on the flight maybe an hour or two earlier to bed.

Direction Europe (East (overnight)): I try to take a later flight that arrives late morning European time, that way when I am boarding it is my natural sleeping time and I can get a few hours kip. If you have an early flight, don't sleep or only manage an hour or two of shut-eye then force yourself to stay awake until about 11am or so after you land. Then have a nap for max of 3 hours. Force yourself to get up, finish off the day normally, and go to bed at a normal time.

The very next day I am as awake as I'll ever be. Sticking to these routines has solved my jet-lag woes.
Discipline, what discipline! Useful pointers, thanks!

Re: Possible jet lag cure?

I fly to US (and back) and to Asia (and back) without jetlag. I am back to swing without missing a beat--what is my secret?

* Exercise before getting on the plane
* Drink plenty of water and limit to only 1 or 2 glass of wine (but not more) in the plane
* Cut on carbo both on the plane and destination
* Change my watch to the destination clock as soon as I am on board and start thinking destination time
* Exercise at the new place also even if it is only for 20min
* Don't know overdo your waking hours ie partying all night with collegue or extertaining clients till late night. Sometimes it is not jetlag but not enough proper sleep that makes you tired during the day.
* Force myself to stay up as late as possible (i.e midnight for the first night) to sleep through the entire night

Good luck
For me it has never failed for the last 7 years!
