Suggestion of Traveling

Where is the best place to travel in Switzerland by train or bus? I have been to all the cities near Lake Geneva, Luzern, Zurich, Bern, Zurich and Brig already.

http://wikitravel.org/en/Switzerland - and let it be said that Switzerland is not all that known for its _cities_.

Try to familiarize yourself with the concept of the PostAuto (https://www.postauto.ch/) as this is your ticket to those other areas of the country not directly accessible by train.

Really, public transport is a total dream - it's so good that you just need to decide where you want to go, when, and what for. There almost certainly will be public transport to get you there, efficiently.

Re: Suggestion of Traveling

If you search at this forum "day trips" you will come up very nice suggestions and most likely there is a public transport availalable. www.sbb.ch also shows you options with postbus and very often if not always local transport too.

I would also suggest to skip the cities and head to the country, there is lot to see and do. I sometimes also use www.myswitzerland.com for ideas even if many destinations tend to be on touristy side of things.

Enjoy

Re: Suggestion of Traveling

One of my very favourite train journeys is the trip from Montreux to Château d'Oex.

Sadly you are just a few weeks too late for the Hot Air Balloon Festival, but it's a beautiful trip and Château d'Oex is a lovely village - especially at this time of year with all the snow.

If you like travelling just for the fun of it, and if you enjoy hot chocolate, then I recommend going to Villars-sur-Ollon and having a hot chocolate at the café La Gourmandine. There's not a lot else to do there, but the hot chocolate is really wonderful. Here's a http://victorialouisehill.com/wordpr...ars-sur-ollon/ I wrote about one of my trips there.

A little later in the year, you could travel up to Les Avants to find the wild narcissi, which are a beautiful sight.

Finally, (for a suggestion outside of Vaud) I really enjoyed visiting the Saint Beatus caves, near Interlaken. IT's a great trip - you travel by train, boat and bus from Vaud... and the caves are beautiful. They offer guided tours in English too.

Have fun exploring!
