Wine Tasting

Does anyone know of any wine tasting events going on this weekend (Fri 20th or Sat 21st June ) in the canton of Vaud?

I have the in-laws over this week and with this glorious weather, I thought it would be nice to show them more than just the local vineyards.

I've searched the net but I've not found anything useful. I've seached the local tourist info sites but again, cant seem to find anything specific for this weekend.

Any guidance is appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Wine Tasting

If you're near a winery, often they'll be open for wine tasting. There will probably be a sign saying something like "Degustation Aujour d'hui".

Re: Wine Tasting

i thought about that, but i went up to Chardonne recently and the whole village was involved in a festival for tasting local wines, selling arts and crafts, serving food and there were also bands playing. it was really quite enjoyable to meet the locals. i was hoping for something like this again. at the time they said that all the local wine making regions would be holding similar events - but i thought it would advertised a little better, so i didnt think to ask for more details. maybe it's more of a word of mouth thing?

Re: Wine Tasting

Villars has some limited information on its website (www.villars.ch) about a wine festival in Antagnes (La Fete des Vignerons de la Cote), starting on 20 June.

Re: Wine Tasting

The village wine festivals tend to happen in early summer and Autumn so you're kinda betwixt and between. FYI here's the list for Vaud:
http://www.vins-vaudois.ch/fr/calendrier.asp?mode=full

I know it's a bit late but for what it's worth for next year the Aigle/Yvorne fêtes in May (esp Aigle) and the Ollon fête in early June are fantastic. Pity you just missed the Ollon event. Me too this year as I was in Tessin. The Autumn events are okay but not as good as the May/June events. Maybe there's something in Valais???

Re: Wine Tasting

As Nev says, you've missed the early summer events. What you could do, instead of going to an individual winery, would be to visit one of the caveaux where you get the chance to taste wines from different winegrower in the area. Those in Riex, Rivay, Epesses, Chexbres, St Saphorin etc are all open in the early evening.
More info here:

Hope you have a great weekend....looks like the weather will be on your side!
