Vineyards in Switzerland/France

My husband and I really want to take a long weekend to go wine tasting in either Switzerland or France and we're looking for a cute B&B to stay at. Does anyone have a recommendation? We live in Zug and don't want to drive more than say 4 hours. We've done a trip like this to Italy and actually found some lovely castles to stay in. But I'm not sure the same type of accomodations are available in Switzerland or France... or at least I can't find any. Any suggestions would be very helpful!

4 hours - does that include Alsace? I'm sure there would be some great b&bs there... cheaper too.

Never mind the B&B, get some Pinot Gris down your neck. Just drank a Hugel '90 in Riquewihr. And that was just at the degustation...they're not allowed to sell you the wine to drink inhouse, but simply accommodate your sampling commensurate with how much you are likely to buy.... That's assuming you can carry it of course...

Re: Vineyards in Switzerland/France

In switzerland, the best wine making region is the Valais. The place is usual quite sunny, with high mountains and quite a few places to visit. If you go there, you can taste a wide selections of wine from the valais in the city of Sierre : It is called 'chateau de villa'.
If you are headed in France, then Alsace is the obvious choice for white wines (Not the reds). And to see the most beautiful villages and taste many wine, I suggest you follow 'la route des vins'. If you are rather keen on reds, than I suggest you go to burgundy (too expensive for what it's worth) or better 'la vallee du rhone' if it's not too far away.

The Lavaux vineyards are another option. Lots of information on the link provided, will obviously provide as much extra information as you can digest

Suzele has made some interesting contributions
Alsace vineyards

You won't have any trouble finding small cottage style hotels in Alsace...
Or a small vacation rental...

Pretty much every village on the wine road has a few...
and of course every village on the wine road has wine tasting rooms too...

For an idea of just how many villages there are on the wine road (over 100)...

Hope it helps,

Suzele

Suzele what is your price range and what do you want to see? I assume you speak some french? I can give a range of good suggestions, with numbers, if you are interested in southern Burgundy. Do you have kids? Do you have an open mind? Give me details.
