I wasn't expecting to find much in the way of good beer when I moved to Basel from Munich. I like the Ueli Spezial (but only from bottles, filtered) and their Weizen beer is good in hot weather. Hopfenperle is an acceptable Feldschlossen beer. Warteck is OK if I can get a clean pint. I can't say I am a fan of Unser beer which seems like an Ueli poorer cousin. Some of the beers here I find detestable, like Cardinal. I am wondering if there are some worthwhile beer trips I can make from Basel, if need be going over the border. Can anyone make any recommendations?
