1week holiday in CH in winter if dont ski

Last year we went to Leukerbad for a week, enjoyed lot. This year I am lost where we could go at Xmas time for a week holiday in CH. The thing is we do not ski. Snowshoe walking might be something but we do not know how fun it is. Otherwise, anybody knows another great place like Leukerbad to enjoy the thermal baths in the mountains?
Or, any other good suggestions for a 3er family (with kid) for 7d holiday during winter time?
Thanks a lot pals and enjoy your time

Re: 1week holiday in CH in winter if dont ski

Well, we are pretty excited after searching high and low for a place for 8 adults and three kids (oops...the rellos are coming to town!)...

we found a farm-hotel - farmstay..

It was significantly cheaper than ski resort places, and not a chalet...but just on the edge of a pretty cute little town.

Schlaf im Stroh (sleep in the straw) is common in summer/autumn for kids for school camps and holidays. But they usually have at least one area that is more of a farmhouse setting or small apartment...

Swiss holiday farms: www.reka.ch
B&B: www.homestay.ch

The other one I would suggest would be to check out the Youth Hostels. They usually have at least a few 'family' rooms, there's always heaps happening in the hostels - they have communal/shared kitchens and either cook for you or you can cook your own - easy to prepare a packed lunch and then go out for the day - and another plus is they are usually pretty well equipped with boardgames etc, if the weather is sour, and probably a nice big log fire...My kids love it because there is inevitably other kids or young people to play with...

These are 'budget' end options, though...really from there the sky is the limit...

We've been to the baths at this place but haven't stayed there. I hear it is excellent if this is the sort of place you are looking for.

While there you really should try skiing or snowboarding...or at the very least snowshoeing or toboganning as you suggest. Great fun for all the family and makes the mountain experience all the better IMHO....it also helps justify all that food and drink that you consume around this time of the year.

The most mineral-laden, sulphurous water to be had is in Baden, and you
can certainly try them. Nowhere near the mountains though...

There are a number of places in the mountains that do have hot, outdoor pools (the one in Andeer is pretty nice) - and of course if you have the
dough, hanging out in Zermatt or St. Moritz and watching the beautiful people is always an option! There are also some superb museums dotted around the country.

And if you wanted something real different, you could come to the folk-dance camp we run between Christmas and New Year where we do crazy Rumanian and Bulgarian stuff (www.worlddance.ch) and have a good time!

J.

baden is fairly boring visually. if you're looking for something with a bit more swissy scenery maybe try the original sulphur mountain bath:
