I was thinking to take a couple of days off around Christmas-time and drive up to the Baden-Baden area in Germany with the family. Has anyone been to this area? Is it interesting? Anything special around the holiday-time, for kids and/or adults? I saw there's Christmas markets there (but everyone has those that time of year ). I also read Baden-Baden has alot of nice spa/resorts. Freibourg and Strasbourg are also nearby, so we could make some trips there as well. If anyone has been in this area and can offer any tips, I'd be glad to hear them

The Black Forest area around xmas is very nice - but I might be a little biased since I live there.

The Freiburg xmas markets are good, but very full. I haven't been to Baden-Baden yet, but I've heard good things about it. Titisee (no giggling, now) is also nice, although a bit touristy.

During this time, I'm not aware of any special events, except for the markets (which are everywhere - although they always end a few days before xmas), and various New Year's parties.

This is a SPA heaven . great roman both . right in the centre of the city.
plus you can go to the casino and climb the merkur mountain if the weather allows it.
lots of good restaurants as well.
