Hello,

Can anyone recommend a sailing school in and around the lausanne area? My husband enjoys sailing but needs to do it under supervision so we are not able to just hire and boat and set sail.

I was hoping to get him some lessons for a present - but so far have had little luck in searching the internet.

We are close to Lausanne and could travel probably an hour either side.

i did a search and could only find people who wanted to hire boats.

Any suggestions?

Hi, search under "club nautique". Most of the local marinas have a sailing club that offers courses, e.g. Morges, Prangins, Nyon, etc. Alternatively, search under "école de voile" (i.e. sailing school)

If you're affiliated with or UNIL or EPFL in anyway, the Centre Nautique at their sports centre is very well run and a good deal. It's mostly Lasers with a couple of Laser 2's and a couple Hobie Cats, and they're used to teaching new folks.

Obviously, this doesn't help you if you're not affiliated.

If you are in lausanne, go to lutry, on the right side of the marina (looking at the lake) there is a sailing school inbetween all the shops, they speak a little english and they are very nice pepole. 90chf per hour if i remember correctly and you can come with him for that price.

I used CN Morges and they were very good and spoke enough english that I was able to pass my practical in French with no problem. Their rates are around 50chf per lesson (slightly less than an hour) and they have package deals which cost less than that. If you need more info then contact me.
