Anyone has any ideas for a day trip to Luzern... apart from the Kappellbrucke... Any idea as to how much entrance to the Verkehrshaus cost?

You should see the Lion Monument too.

Skip the Gletschergarten. its not that interesting, and if the weather is nice, you should enjoy a Walk on the city wall, and have a cup of coffee on one of the small squares in Luzern old town, and enjoy the nicely painted houses.

I have not been on a walk along the lake yet, but i am sure thats also an option as well as the boats.

It's definitely worth the first trip. Don't forget your camera.

Definitely agree that the Lion monument is a must see. Old town and city walls are also worth the visit. Boat trip is well worth it. Best time is after your walk around the town/museum to relax. Sunset on the lake is great.

It would be worth checking the current status of renovation works. There was a lot of building work around Christmas and not everything was open.

Can a trip to Mt. Pilatus be covered by normal SBB tickets or do they require special tickets?

There is an S5 going up to Pilatus Kulm. So does that mean you can just do the trip by train instead of opting for a bus or gondola? Sorry to sound confused!

I don't like Pilatus, I prefer Burgenstock. Get a steamer across the lake go up to the first stop on the cogwheel railway then walk up to the Hammetschwand lift It is really exciting to orbit up iin the Hammetschwand up ot the top- no crowds fewer clouds. I've done this so many times- often alone.

Also in Zurich the second wooden bridge further up is great- so macabre and I think that the paintings are still the originals.

I think so, anyway I know that it was so much cheaper than Pilatus. Although some change their mind when they see the lift- it's just so exhilerating!
