I am considering touring around Switzerland in a small motorhome. I am keen to see some of the areas that are not readily accessible by rail. I am also thinking that this will give me more flexibility by not having to 'return to base' every day.

I am probably going to concentrate my travels around Eastern Switzerland (Graubunden, Appenzel and Ticino). I would appreciate any recommendations for sites around these areas in particular.

Is is acceptable to park overnight in laybys or car parks?

I am considering purchasing in the UK and driving over rather than hiring in Switzerland. Any thoughts on pros and cons of this? RH drive is one minor issue.

I would only be looking at a small vehicle similar to one of those below.

Any other general tips about motorhome travel in Switzerland would be appreciated. Thanks

we spent 2 weeks in july travelling through france with a rental motorhome - it was great fun!!! sorry that i can't give you any tips on CH - but enjoy the journey - when searching for a rental, i found that the prices were very much the same no matter where you went - we had no troubles with our deal - let me know if you need a reference?

There are a number of campsites in this area where you can set up
camp for a while.

Also, the parking lot at the stadium in Vaduz has a dump station and
fresh water tap for your tank.

I have noticed quite a few car parks prohibit campervans from overnight parking, times vary but usually something like from 21:00 - 08:00.
