| | | Visiting Switzerland with children.. we need some ideas
Next June we will be 12 days in switzerland and the kids are traveling with us!!!! We need some ideas, they are 5 and 3 years old but have no clue about what to do all these days.
4 night in Zurich, 3 Night in Bern, 3 Nigth in Interlaken and 1 night in Zurich again.
We think the Zurich Zoo would be a great idea but we don`tn know what else can do outhere... thank you for all your replies.
PD: My wife and I visited Switzerland last April and we enyoied that beautiful country: Luzern (boat trip, the Lion), Bern, interlaken (including jungfraujoch) zurich and strasbourg. This time will be more relaxed.

There is a thread here which may give you some ideas Things to do/see in Zurich
Also if you use the search function with "things to do" in double quotes there are a few pages of other threads - you just need to wade through them

If the weather is warm in Zürich, try the Badi -- Mythenquai Badi is always nice for kids -- they can play in the sand, run around on the lawn, there is a playground. Plus you can get lunch (albeit not cheap....) with a fantastic view of the lake.

- Boat ride on the Lake, there may be a circus in town This site is in German, but you might be able to struggle through.
Even riding the trams is exciting! Interlaken has a Mystery Park which I have often wanted to get to.
oooo.. i have to get on with the day.

I recommend a round trip up the Rigi from Arth, down the other side to the lake by cable car, a paddle steamer boat ride to the Luzern baths on the lake (one stop before Luzern). The Luzern baths (Luzerner Badi) has a huge playground for the kids with connecting towers and bridges that both your kids will enjoy. The transport museum is a 5 minute walk away too.
We did this trip when family visited last year with 4 adults and 5 kids - ages 2, 3x 5 years and one 6 years old.

Zürich is great for children, my children have really enjoyed taking boat trips on the lake. A nice trip is from Zürich to Rapperswil, look at this old town, perhaps visit the children's zoo, go out for lunch, have a picnic and then return back either on the boat or by train.
Finding a lake side Badi and swimming in the lake is also a lovely thing to do.
Have a wonderful trip!

For kids, Rapperswil is a great place! There is a sea-lion (or walrus or ) show. Don't miss it. You will see squealing children all around
I've also heard that Coney Island is good for kids. The Transport museum (in Luzern) is also a very entertaining and educative, though it might take the whole day.

Be sure to put the new bear park (opened a couple weeks ago) high on your list in Bern. The old one was popular and this is a great improvement. Clock tower in Bern, where you go up inside, is impressive for little people as well.

Might be a bit far from Zurich. Or is it?
Still it is super cool for children and adults.
Genuine, functioning Steam locomotives. Including a miniature cog railway.
What about the Bears in Bern? Markets (also in Bern)? You are getting close to Christmas so the markets are going to be more and more Christmassy!
Salsburg has a good Christmas market as well.

Don't leave out the Rhine Falls, go to the Schaffhausen side and you can go on a boat right out to the island at the foot of the water masses. Something children won't forget quickly.

I know it isn't likely to happen, but if anyone went down to Arth to try to get up the Rigi, they would find themself in the wrong place. The railway station is in Goldau. One train goes up the Rigi (Klösterli, First, Staffel - Kulm) from Goldau and one can get out of the 'Rigi' train at Kräbel and go to the Rigi Scheidegg by aerial cableway - but Kräbel is not in Arth either.

Although useful information is undoubtedly contained herein, this was a thread that had lain dormant for over 2yrs. and was for some reason resurrected rediscovered today, before your corrective advice was offered for a visit that is probably long forgotten.
It always amazes me how the search function is used (or not).

Sorry - you are right. Just for once I didn't check the date of the original question. Mind you, one can always add info to these old threads but a specific reply to a question in it is quite amusing.
Often, threads are re-awoken by a spammer, someone replies, the spam post is removed and no-one can understand the reason for digging it up. This time, it was possible someone who was looking for something to do themselves and searched for threads with ideas. Then added theirs to this one.
