Maybe some Greek people or experience travellers can advice me how to get to Athens cheaply?

What airlines are flying there?

I just checked www.swiss.com for a random date in June a while ago from Zurich = 320 chf. Would also be interested if anyone has something better.

I usually fly Swiss from Zurich to Athens as this is the fastest way. If you book in advance you can find some very good offers. For example last June I paid 190CHF for a return ticket.

The other way is to fly from Milan (you can drive and leave your car in the airport is quite cheap) Aegean is flying from there and 1-2 years ago there was also Volare which was extremely cheap (40euros one way)
Or....you fly from stutgart again aegean

I find flying from ZH to greece expensive.

I find flying out of Zurich to anywhere expensive most of the time.

Depending on where else you might want to go in Greece, you can try airberlin during the high season.

A trick to see what is flying out of Zurich, is to look at the table in wikipedia for "zurich airport".

once the routes are opened up (April I think) you could consider Zurich-Manchester-Athens with Easyjet.

Can any saving be worth spending that long on Easyjet flights. Especially when you know your first is going in the wrong direction!!! Book early and fly with Swiss (and take a sandwich the food is lousy).

Agree with the sentiment but it will be worth it for some people if it means saving a few hundred.

Flew Swiss last Thursday and after around 20 trouble free flights with them they had real problems in Zurich with 2 planes faulty and 3 hours wait (2 hours on the runway) and you are right, well worth taking a sandwich. The food is free but the choice is either a very dry salami or very dry cheese roll. Just meant I had to have a second bottle of rather nice swiss wine.
