Hotel Lake Geneva Area

We are planning a Valentine's Day trip to the Lake Geneva area.

Can someone recommend a nice hotel - not overly expensive - from Montreux to the Laveaux ?

Thanks and a nice day

Re: Hotel Lake Geneva Area

Define expensive ?

Villa Toscana in Montreux gets mixed reviews but I found it nice - CHF179 for Sat night

Movenpick & Alpha Palmiers in Lausanne are both recommendable as is Hotel du Lac in Vevey but all are more expensive

No, that's fine. I just meant the real luxury category would be out of budget for us.

You can try this
http://www.bon-rivage.ch/
And not as expensive as Hotel du Lac (they increased the rates by 30% when they added *Grand* to the name and got a portier LOL)

Having stayed in many in the area Bon-Rivage is not one I'd recommend. As a place for a nice meal on the terrace then yes but for a romantic night away - no way. Regularly used as an overflow for the Nestlé Training Centre next door and the price/quality reflects this. Hotel du Lac may be more expensive but it's in a different class entirely.

Allegra, Can you be a bit more specific about the price? There are lots of nice hotels in the Montreux-Laveaux area but what is "not overly expensive" for one person may be for someone else.

Eden au Lac, which is a 4* right on the lake in Montreux is offering a winter special at Sfr 125 per person. It includes breakfast.

I would imagine that other hotels may have special offers. They may not be valid on Valentine's weekend though.

You may also want to search the Montreux Forum at Trip Advisor. The destination experts are very knowledgeable about hotels, restaurants, etc. You'll also find reviews of the hotels and restaurants.

Best wishes for your romantic weekend in the French part of Switzerland. You've picked a lovely spot!

Allegra,

I just took a quick look at www.booking.com and they have some interesting offers for this weekend.

Thanks for the suggestions - they are perfect. It's a bit difficult with the price, but I agree with what you say. With too pricey I just meant a real rip-off. Of course hotels in this area always have a certain price, unless you want to stay in a youth hostel or BnB, which is not really an option.

I don't know...some B&Bs can be more romantic than some hotels. My book on "charming" B&Bs in Switzerland suggests le Bourg 7 in Lutry (on the lake near Lausanne) that looks really nice. The one they suggest in Montreux, the Neuf Trois Quarts, also looks alright, although not as romantic as the one in Lutry.
