Question about a Zurich lakeside statue

Does anybody know the significance of the statue in Zurich by the lake where a nude man is bitch slapping a large bird?

Re: Question about statue

According to Greek mythology, Ganymede, the handsome king's son, was kidnapped and taken up to the top of Mount Olympus. This statue by Hermann Hubacher in 1952 does not, however, depict this kidnapping, but symbolizes instead man's longing to ascend Mount Olympus: hand raised, Ganymede pleads with Zeus, father of the gods, (who appears as the eagle) to bear him up.

My interpretation: the guy is a shameless banker (therefore nude) from Zurich and the large bird represents the German Nazi ...and the conversation is ..hey birdie, gimme your money, I will keep it safe.
Ok, I need to get out of the house more often .

Re: Question about statue

Zeus fell in love with Ganymede and transformed himself into an eagle to abduct him. Zeus then carried Ganymede off to Mount Olympus. Ganymede became the lover of Zeus.
We learned this at school but our teacher didn't go much into the lover's part. I read this many years later.

I believe it looks like a Bald Eagle. Ego, it is the swiss bankers giving up the banking information of their american clients to the IRS.

Re: Question about a Zurich lakeside statue

I would vote that LiB's interpretation should be written into the books as the official one.

After all, which of us can honestly say that we've never wanted to bitch slap an eagle? Arrogant beady eyed raptor bustards that they are.

Re: Question about a Zurich lakeside statue

Are you suggesting that Ganymede is a grower, not a show'er
