Geneva to Manchester - Airline (moved from Transport/Drving)

Hello,
does anyone know an airline that will fly direct from Geneva to Manchester (UK) in the summer?

I know BMIbaby and Jet2 do in the winter ... but I'm looking for direct flights this summer.

Thanks,

Bill

Bill,

Doesn't appear to be much around, tried Manchester - Geneva with http://www.travelsupermarket.com best bet is to fly to Liverpool and then use public transport. Other option is to fly out of Zurich

I think your best bet for cheap flights is out of Basel Euroairport. You can find some really cheap Swiss flights out of there as well as Easyjet flights. If you do go with Swiss, I think you can check in from Geneva at the train station even.

Re: Geneva to Manchester - Airline (moved from Transport/Drving)

Lufthansa is having a promotion at the moment. Not direct but for 259chf return you can't complain, my mate R booked himself a flight in august yesterday so check them out.

I fly the reverse route quite regularly and I was well cheesed off when BA Connect was sold to Flybe who then promptly cancelled the route...Not much of a problem in winter but in summer it leaves Easyjet as the only airline flying from the north west and prices have gone up badly. If booked nice and early, a flight from London will be cheaper, including the train to go down there...

another vote for going into John Lennon airport in Liverpool.

Looks like they have extended the metro down to it - and buses too. Once at Lime Street, it's easy peasy. And Liverpool's a great city, great people.

What's that about "metro" Lob? There is direct bus to town centre as well as a bus going direct to Manchester too (quite cheap, 7£ return, and regular, every hour). I haven't been through Liverpool for over a year now, I wonder if they held a vigil about it

Re: Geneva to Manchester - Airline (moved from Transport/Drving)

Train wise, you need to take a bus to Liverpool South, that's a new transport exchange where you can pick up a regional train towards Manchester. If you need a direct train to somewhere further than Manchester, you need to go to Lime Street.

Liverpool airport are currently toying with the idea of charging people to go through security, something Easyjet got very upset about as they stated, quite rightly, that they already paid good money for that and they did not see why their passengers ought to pay something twice.

As ever, the "terrorism" excuse is wheeled out to justify any restriction/quick buck making scheme....

Flights from Basel to Manchester with Swiss, flying Wed to Wed are VERY cheap!!!

I travelled in April and paid 143chf return. My girlfriend is flying Basel to Manchester at the end of July and it cost 99chf return.

Just back from manchester. As mentioned above - Liverpool to manchester is easy. There is a national express and a private company which go direct from airport to Chorlton St - 50 minutes and 5 quid return. Make sure you buy ticket in terminal building for private bus. The private company is hourly at xx.40 - forget the name (begins with a T) and is directly across the road from terminal entrance.

I thought so, about Terravision. The service I use is by Arriva North (bus company) and is slightly more expensive, I'll try the Terravision one next time. National Express is also a private company btw but I think their service goes through Liverpool coach station so it's a bit longuer timewise.
