Low end of it, budget range basicly.

Not saying its bad for checking emails/surfing the web but don't expect playing high end games on it or do many multiple tasks.

You get what you pay for , if its only for surfing and emails..go for it

Well, that kind of a machine will give you even more than browsing the web and stuff but what bothers me is the difference in price between let's say interdiscount that has the same model and config for 700 something CHF, and other manufacturers for the same config will charge you at least double. I will see, might go for this one but not sure, I would like to have a laptop that will last at least 2-3 years.

I find computers here pretty expensive compared wit the UK - we bought Samsung NC10s (2 of them) in Britain for £250 - one is now 2 years old and still on orginal battery.

Notebooks for email/word porcessing etc. - no good for games and no external CD drive but we find them excellent and at the time such notebooks here were costing around Chf700.

Often the specification may be higher here but the society is richer and thus the prices are set higher.

If it is Core I3, then it is 32nm, new generation which means the CPU at least should use less power, generate less heat, and the whole thing should be reliable and cheap. I would prefer this to some i4's, which were older 45nm feature size and might look better on paper. How much RAM can it take? That usually determines life expectancy for me.

I just saw this cracking offer from Migros again on a similar spec laptop as the ACER but this time it's an HP!

Im really tempted to go and get it.

I picked up in the UK an Acer 5742 - i3-370. 4gb memory 250gb HDD Intel HD grapics - for £379 - same thing in Migros was 899 CHFs.

I am really pleased with it - could be worth a Easyjet flight over for..

I had a thought of doing the same in France and than tax return..but 666 (the number of the beast! ) was too tempting for HP with that specs...so I ordered it minutes ago.
