New Fixnet Line

I have signed up to have a Swisscom Fixnet account set up and paid a setup fee of CHF 43. Now I am being told that I have to pay the electrician over and above that amount. Is this normal and if so why does swisscom not inform me??? Any help will be appreciated.

Entirely normal. It normally comes in at some 150 francs! If the house is new or you are in a block of flats where it was terminated or you have ordered ISDN that is the way it is. Note though if you have your own house you can do it yourself if you know what you are doing - rather simple there are only four wires

swisscom only own the lines to such a distance. The lines inside your home are the responsibilty of a local electrical or telelphone trained company. I believe this is only to create work for other companies and make our lives difficult.
It is normal, but only within Switzerland. In North America, we would get our hands slapped for touching telelphone lines, here, Swisscom get their profits.
Depending on the installation, you should be able to ask for a Swisscom rep to come and help sort your problem. As long as they don't have to pull any wires in, they should be able to help you.

Oh you are, but those who do not know what they are doing have to pay...
Do what you can help the people out. The faster they leave, the lower the bill will be.
