Has anyone asked Swisscom if and when they'll be getting those?

For those looking for a good price and want to pre-order, Conrad.ch has a 15% sale until today and just put the i9100 on pre-order. With pre-payment and 15% off, I just pre-ordered it for 601 CHF. The date they give for shipping is the 1st of June, can't wait.
This is likely the cheapest we'll find it for a while.

Are you still happy with your Samsung Galaxy SII i9100?
Hubby has the intention to buy me one.

I don't think anyone has gotten their hands on one yet. Swiss release date is late May/early June. There are 3 million pre-orders worldwide, so tell your husband to not expect it will be readily available.
But all reviews seem to indicate that it's the best Android phone yet and will be for a long time.

It's the best smartphone on the market. If you can find one (I bought mine at Mobilezone), get it. I've already ordered a second one for my wife.

Personally I'm waiting for the HTC Sensation to be released so I can compare. I always prefer the HTC Sense skin. HTC usually gets updates out quite quickly as well.
But the 1GB internal storage is a big negative for me in the Sensation. It's not a problem since I don't use that much storage and if google music comes to Europe it would be even less of a problem.
But the qHD high resolution screen on the Sensation will be lovely |

| | | Re: Samsung Galaxy S II i9100... new Android beast of a phone about to be released. | Quote: | | | | | Thanks guys! In Germany it is available since beginning of May! | | | | | Really? As far as I can tell from the forum posts on pocketpc.ch, the launch in Germany has been postponed until the end of May. T-Mobile hasn't received any so far and neither have the many internet vendors: http://www.pocketpc.ch/samsung-galax...y-s-ii-78.html
However, it's been available in Switzerland for at least 2 weeks now. Demand for that device is extremely high, though - Samsung apparently had more than 3 million pre-orders world-wide (which even beats the iPhone 4). Deliveries have been trickling in here - I ordered mine on Thursday from Mobilezone; although the website indicated that they don't have any in stock, I was notified that I can pick mine up from my local Mobilezone shop the following day.
Sunrise also has them in stock (at least they did last week) - but they charge 748 Fr. for it. Digitec has sold out the first batch but will be getting more next week.
Swisscom will start shipping theirs May 23. I ordered the one for my wife from Swisscom (because I could get it cheaper on a contract that has already rolled over), I'll post when they're available there.
As for the HTC Sensation: after my experience with the Desire HD, I won't be buying HTC for a while. The build quality just isn't that great. I like HTC Sense but Touchwiz has come a long ways. And, most importantly, Samsung has learned their lesson from the Galaxy S - releasing phones with incomplete software just doesn't fly anymore. The S II's software is rock solid and lag-free. And they've already released two official FW upgrades, so they're also working on their upgrade policy.
Even specs-wise, the Sensation isn't for me: it's very heavy compared to the SGS II, only 768mb of RAM (compared to 1gb in the SGS II) and has a puny 1gb of on-board storage, meaning you'll have to deal with MicroSD card speeds etc. Both are a bit of a problem, especially since Google just upped the maximum App size in the Market to 50mb and 2gb on NAND storage - something game developers have been waiting for a long time. There'll be an onslaught of very heavy apps coming in, so small RAM sizes and small NAND memory aren't good.
Then, there's the screen: slightly higher-res (won't be noticeable, though - even compared to the iPhone 4, the SGS II's screen looks sharp) than the SGS II but no S-AMOLED. The new matrix Samsung uses means no pixelation (something that was an issue with the first Galaxy S), even better readability outside and extremely low power consumption. Speaking of: the SGS II has a 1650 mAh battery, the Sensation only sports a 1520 mAh version - not a good thing, considering the fact that the screen is a lot more power-hungry. The SGS II has excellent battery life, btw.
Anyway, don't mean to bash the Sensation - it's just not for me.

Some friends of mine told me to go for a I-phone... I think they are already sold to the brand though.... I should have checked if they had an Apple tattoo hidden somewhere...
Their arguments were that Samsung would be to technical for my personal need... Which is to call, send messages, take pictures and play with some basic gadgets.
I have to admit that I have an Ipod Touch with I love but don't use anymore because of lack of time. I wish I had a phone into it to spend more time playing on it.

If you use Facebook, Twitter etc., you'll notice that social networking is drastically better integrated with Android than with iOS.
Android is different from the Apple approach. People who have been using iOS devices for years will have to spend a minimum amount of time to get used to Android. If they're unwilling to do that, they'll usually end up saying "Android is difficult to use". If you haven't used an Android or iOS smartphone before, it makes no difference to you - you'll be spending a couple of hours getting used to the respective OS either way.
If I were you, I'd get the phone from Swisscom - if you don't like it, they'll take it back.

All I was saying to you yesterday was that if you want something that will work with minimal effort then the iPhone is your device. Although there are a lot of apps for Android, I still think the best apps are available for the iPhone.
Personally, browsing is the most important thing for me. So a fast browser and a big screen is what matters to me.
