Personally, browsing is the most important thing for me. So a fast browser and a big screen is what matters to me. | | | | | As for the apps: I agree - many content providers were completely overwhelmed by the rapid growth of Android and ended up rushing out incomplete apps, simply to get a foot through the door. However, there are many apps that look significantly better on Android (some because of Android, others, such as Pulse, because of the bigger screen real-estate). All in all, I wouldn't say Apps are the defining element in making a choice between the OSs anymore. Most people use their smartphones to send texts, emails, use Facebook and Twitter on the go, check the weather, call people and read their Tagi, 20 Minuten, USA Today, AP news and their RSS feeds. For all of this, there are very beautiful, capable and mostly free apps on Android that definitely don't have to hide between their iOS counterparts.
If you like an excellent browsing-experience (both with and without Flash), the SGS II is definitely the phone for you.

"Speicherkapazität: 2 GB Benutzerspeicher" - at least that's what Samsung says on their own website. http://www.samsung.com/ch/consumer/m...subtype=galaxy |

the SGS II has:
- 1gb of memory (although in my opinion, "memory" is a generic term) to execute code
- 2gb of NAND memory for installing apps
- 16gb of additional memory on an internal memory card
- a MicroSD memory card slot.
The HTC Sensation has:
- 768mb of memory
- 1gb of NAND storage
- no internal memory card
- a MicroSD card slot.

In addition, the HTC camera will suck as all HTC cameras do, and the battery life will be much better on the SGS II. Oh and of course, the screen on the Sensation will be nowhere near as nice to look at as the Super AMOLED+ on the SGS II. |

Battery life isn't a huge deal for me. I carry my charger with me if I'm travelling and I charge every night anyway.
Like I said I just want to have a play with both before I make up my mind. I think both phones will be insanely fast and good although on paper the SGS2 kills it.

By all means wait for the Sensation though. |

But who knows, perhaps HTC has procured theirs from the same source as Samsung this time :-) They seem to have put some emphasis on the camera this time - at least they're advertising the instant shutter thing for the Sensation.
The higher screen res won't have the dramatic effect the "retina" display has on the iPhone 4 - simply because the screen's much bigger, making the qHD thing rather unspectacular. Samsung is using a different matrix on the new S-AMOLED+ displays, making them look much sharper. I can't see any pixelation on the screen - it looks at least as sharp to me as the iPhone 4, so I doubt qHD is going to produce a massive "wow effect". On the other hand, deviating from Android's standard resolution will probably cause issues with some apps. In any case, I have not yet seen any display with better readability in bright sunlight than the S-AMOLEDs.

Guys, enough convincing. These things are already in short supply. Let him wait for the Sensation if he wants, that way I get mine quicker! |

The Sense UI is really nice - and I do see why a lot of people won't want a phone without it.

It's better than the usual HTC mush, but that's not really saying too much. |

Clove in the UK are also selling the sim free SGS2. They will ship to Switzerland and take the VAT off (but then you are quite likely to get import duty charges etc)

I jailbreaked my Ipod Touch by myself (like a big girl! )

Obviously the normal mail would work out cheaper with customs etc.
Also don't digitec have the SGS2 for 647CHF? This is 660CHF with an exchange rate of 1.5 applied.
But clove have great customer service and have always been very helpful with me. They usually get one of the first stock of SIM free models in the UK also. I'd highly recommend them.

I'm just careful with buying gadgets abroad as the Swiss branches of the manufacturers more often than not won't honor the warranty
