I have had various projectors and never had rainbowing. But then, I always went for LCD to avoid the chance of it.

Where would I go to get an adjustable projector stand? I just got myself a projector and want to use it for video projection, so I think I need a good range of height and angle, and preferably "portable".

Really hoping for a bricks and mortar store so I can have a look at them and make sure they're solid, but yeah that's pretty close, though I'm not sure about having it on wheels.

If you find something close you can goto the local Digitec and they will take it out for you to see. Brack have a big showroom too, not sure how close it is to you but I find the guys there a lot more helpful and they for sure will take stuff out, show you and find options. I always make the trip if I'm after anything as opposed to the mail order.
If not, you can try perhaps a similar place to Office Max, perhaps even Media Markt 'tho you'll pay more.
Some of the wheeled options either lock or have wind down feet to level and stabilise

Actually if you're where I think you are near Luzern it should only be about 45 mins to an hour ish to Brack or the main Digitec warehouse at Wollen

I ended up getting a camera tripod for the projector, 29.90 from Manor, wouldn't leave it out in the wind but it's fine indoors. The projector screws in and I get a full range of movement.

Anyone know anything about short throw projectors?
I need to project onto an area at least 1m wide from as close as possible, the closer the better.

it has holes for mounting brackets (which I use) don't know if they are ok with a tripod??
the projector itself is fine, as people on various forum's said, you don't notice the rainbowing after a while, I really have to concentrate to see it now, and my wife and son have never seen it, so quite happy overall

It should have one of those threaded holes you find on the bottom of cameras, in the centre of balance of the bottom of the projector. My Acer has one, but I have no idea if it's a standard thing or not.

yes it has 3 of them, it seems to be pretty standard to have them else you wouldn't be able to ceiling mount them
the micro projectors interdiscount sell also have the holes

Digitec (digitec.ch) are doing some good deals on beamers at the moment. (Epson TW 4400 and 5500) they are a lot less here than in the UK. I have one with a 5m HDMI no problem and with the lens shift you can place it to one side. Make sure your video device has a seperate digital audio out though (not just through the HDMI) as you cannot take the sound out of the HDMI via the beamer. you would need one of these: http://www.octavainc.com/HDMI%20dist...02%20port.html |

I want to check out some pico projectors, particularly the Asus P1, I see digitec stock it, but I really want to give it a look over before buying, and I doubt they'll have it in the showroom.
Checked the usuals, toppreise, interdiscount, conrad, but can only find it online, anyone know a brick shop that might stock it?

fust and mediamarkt had the out when I was looking, and able to play. Pretty good for what they are, but don't expect a decent picture in daylight and very very limited focus

I got a combo of Panasonic AX-200U screwed up-side-down to the ceiling with a Vogel VPC-545 projecting onto a Screenmaster Digital screen that is placed a bit more than 5m from the projector. This combo is working like a charm, press a button and the screen comes down so one can watch and during non-use one only has a little bar on the ceiling and it goes unnoticed quite well.
Two words of warning though: 1) Think of the neighbors, you are likely not in a really well noise-isolated room thus don't turn the music too loud. 2) Check out before buying on how you can get such a huge screen into your third floor apartment, generally the staircases are note big enough and you end up lifting it up through a window to get it into your apartment....
I do have this gear, especially the beamer, for quite a while now and I if I had to buy it today I would likely only get a 1080p version instead of the 720p model I have. Though I have my next lamp already for another 2000+++ hours so likely it will last quite a while before I finally upgrade that to 1080p too. The screen is essential IMHO though, the difference between projecting on a wall and on a proper screen is amazing.

I don't have any neighbours, and 1000 watts of surround sound speakers built into the walls |

What do you mean by a very limited focus? From what I read the Asus has a pretty good range, allowing closer positioning than others.
