| | | What do you guys use for TV, Internet, Fixed?
Hello, boys and girls,
I currently have
Sunrise Internet 5,000kbps @CHF 59.-/month
Sunrise Fixed (comes included) @ CHF 0.- /month
Naxoo TV basic @ CHF 25.-/month
On top of this is the beloved Billag at CHF 25-ish/month
Rumors say that if you have Swisscom Casa package (TV+fixed+internet), you can save on Billag, but their website had nothing to support this... So, forget the Billag and just say CHF 85.- for fixed+TV+internet...
I am shopping around and am wondering what is it you have and how much you pay for it? Any ideas how to reduce costs or improve quality in roughly the same budget are most welcome! |

UPC Cablecom Fiber Power Internet 25 at 50 CHF/mo (25,000 Kbps)
No TV (We've got a Slingbox hooked up in the U.S.- we just watch that on the computer)
Wife's cell is provided by her work and I don't have one right now.
And yes, of course, lest I forget, the Billag...

I live in Solothurn. Cablecom is not available here, we have something called Yetnet, and it is cable internet.
Download: 20,000kb/s
Upload: 1200 kb/s
It is supposed to be 69chf per month but I see some kind of discount on my bill? (not complaining) and I end up paying about 50chf per month.
I also was considering Swisscom, but they are DSL which requires a phone line. The same speed costs also 69 chf from swisscom but I would have to get a phone line, which will add another 25chf to my bill, totaling 94chf, so I said no thanks.
Im happy with my internet speed. I watch a lot of stream movies and news on my laptop. I dont have a TV, I am only staying here for 2 years.
I guess depending on what you use the most, internet or TV, you can look at the speed/tv chanels available for each package and compare. I hope that helps somewhat!

Cablecom user here.
Power Combi - 100 mbps Internet (but the max I have tested is around 80 mbps - but not complaining!), 170 digital channels, unlimited calls to land lines in Europe, North America, Asia.
CHF99.00 + 0.80 copyright fee = 99.80
I think it's a great deal for what you get.

I use Cablecom for internet only. 25,000Kbps for 50 CHF. Overall I'm pretty happy with the service. Very occasional problem with the connection but that could well be my router.
Also have Orange prepay mobile but that is it as far as connectivity is concerned. I haven't paid for TV because I have accumulated a ton of stuff over the years (DVDs, downloads etc) so figured I'd get through them first..Haven't gone for a fixed line phone because I figure I can always use the office phone, Skype etc if and when I need to make calls.

Cablecom - some kind of kombi deal (don't recall the name)
CHF 59 for 20mbps/2mbps internet, 120 channels of digital TV and basic phone service. I use VoIP to call out, so dont need any of their packages..

Wow, many Cablecom people... couple of years back this forum could not stand them for appalling quality + terrible customer service. Good to know things have improved |

I'll go against the Cablecom flow then. I have Swisscom Casa Trio, 111 CHF a month for Internet, TV and landline.
They recently offered me a deal (can't remember the name, Vivo something) which would also include the mobile in the package. I like the idea of having everything on a single monthly bill; unfortunately they have padded the offer out with extras that I don't need (such as Swisscom TV Air), as a result of which it would work out 20 CHF a month more than I am paying now.

Ma Anne, have a look at the sticky re Billag Lob translates it very well. Owning any device "capable" of receiving tv or radio will make you liable to pay Billag!!

Doesn't matter if you actually watch TV or not; if you have the ability to receive, then you must pay the licence.

Thanks in advance for your help. | | | | | I have been here 7 months now with a laptop (no TV) and an extra monitor which acts as my internet TV - internet connection through 5000 Kbps Sunrise - and have not paid any Billag yet. My moral justification is that I never watch Swiss TV, only watch UK (Zatoo) and other international channels. Not been caught yet, probably will be now after replying to this thread |

Just got a bill from them for 400CHF for all of next year. I'm wondering why would I pay for a full year if there's even the remotest possibility I won't stay in CH?

Reach a member ( from Billag ) if you need further information. http://www.englishforum.ch/members/7...ce-billag.html | Quote: | | | | ^We would like to clarify a few things concerning the termination of the reception fees.
Every person who leaves Switzerland should inform Billag in advance by letter, e-mail or through our internet site ( www.billag.com/abmeldungen) about the date he/she will be leaving the country.
Billag will pay back the fees which are already paid. We will cease the fees by the end of the month in which you will be leaving. The refund will be calculated according to the months which were paid in advance, for example, if you leave Switzerland at the end of april, but you paid until the end of december, we will refund 8 months.
To assure that you will get your money back once you left the country, please mention the name of your bank and the i-ban number. You will receive the money on your account, even if you are already abroad. As we are bound by the federal RA/TV law, we assure that these informations will be treated with confidentiality.
We hope that these informations will help you to recover the fees payed in advance
If there should be other questions concerning Billag, please feel free to contact us

I use a local provider called EvardNet - 55chf/month for 20mbit cable connection. I have no problems squeezing out the full 20mbits at any time.
My tv subscription is included with the rent, and I use Voip phones (one with sipcall.ch and the other one with a foreign provider) and only pay for the calls made.
Overall I think I'm getting a pretty good deal.
