The following 5 users would like to thank John McClane for this useful post:
Probably not the best of most advanced TV these days especially with edge back lighting, but for 444Chuffs can't really go wrong. They also have them in my nearest Migros being sold under their budget brand so I from what I can see supply should not be limited. The Migros near Allschwil had at least 1 pallet of them on display.

I'm not knocking them, we had one, all be it rebadged, and it does have the power supply issue, low res works fine, high res doesn't, its a simple fix and one day I might actually get round to doing it (its well out of warantee now) but we where happy with it upto that point, just go into the deal with your eyes wide open
all use the same samsung psu though, also affects the 42" screens as well, the link was just to get the general hits about it, you have to take the tv apart and get the psu part number to be sure, but iirc all samsung 40" screen suffer this issue.
I have a few questions for you Mr. bigblue2 if I may...
1) Where can one find these parts and a soldering iron in Switzerland? Is there a large Radio Shack style store here, where you can buy these? And how much are these items - are they grossly inflated in price as apposed to the UK or North America?
2) Is this a deal not to pass up? Or will there be deals like this coming up around Xmas?
(excuse my ignorance to these topics. I'm just so new to CH, it would be great to get some more info about this, before jumping into a purchase)
note - This tv does NOT play video files from your pen-drive or from a connected external hard drive. It only plays music and picture files.
One would have to connect the pen-drive or the hard disc to a laptop and then in-turn,to the tv.
Weird!!!
Also, today, all 10 sets were sold from the migros where I bought the tv. I bought it yesterday.
But, who knows? Perhaps they might start with another lot.
Just bought one too. Somehow however I'm not feeling the excitement of unpacking the box... I think that the M-Budget sleeve (and the low price) is actually turning me off!
I researched this as it is a very important feature for me. It is possible, you just have to follow these instructions....
I saw that video too. However make sure that you read the comments beneath the video on the youtube page... some other guy who tried the procedure seems to have problems with the TV now...

Yeah I saw those comments. They guy does seam to be having problems, but it worked for the video poster and another guy with no hiccups. Then the guy having problems posted that he thinks he has a different TV from the poster. IMHO I think the guy having problems didn't do the process properly.
Hey Tschortscho!!
it's all in the head,mate!!
am sure migros hasn't opened the boxes at all, they've simply slipped their attractive green budget sleeve on!!!
How did it go? Did you try changing the tv's settings, as shown in the video?
Do let me know how it went!!
Pricepoint on Plasmas & LCD/LEDs are not hard to figure out, tbh...Migros or anywhere else knows they can entice customers by putting a certain set low enough that it will attract buyers...But 100 Hz is poor by industry standards...The big negative on LED/LCDs has to do with motion artifacts & the blurring that can occur...High end LED/LCDs, by comparison, are at 800 Hz
Even at a low price, if image quality is important, 100 Hz is not a set to consider unless you intend to avoid action, sports etc

Hmmm... Interesting point. I'm curious about motion rate amounts over here in Europe. In Canada, they start at 60hz, and go up at 120hz, 240hz, etc... I just assumed that 100hz was comparable to 120hz. I had a Bravia 120hz and the motion was amazing. It even made DVDrips of older movies look fluid and crisp.
All very true but the 100Hz fact on it's own is as useless as saying my car does 0-60 or the new trend of banding around megapixels assuming more makes cameras on phones better than DSLRs!!!
!00hz is indeed "low" but the way the samsung panels deal with motion IMO is better than rival displays. I remember 2 years ago being 30 seconds away from buying a set that i was sure was the superior in the price bracket selected just as a shot from the Tour De France came on and destroyed the mythical figures and instantly showed me why the Samsung was better...
A low end samsung will still put all the rivals at the same price point well in the shade.
For that money I'd say great deal rrp of about 700 euro...ish. In fact I might go pick one up as a second monitor display....
