I am thinking of buying a Samsung 40'' smart tv.

I have a swisscom internet connection which is 5 mbps. Is this enough for the tv ? Or is it too slow ?

honest answer is don't know, we have a Samsung smart tv, but our internet connection is pretty fast, did a quick test and logged 46.5 mbps download speed and the TV works great

does the smart tv have a built in browser to surf the net ?

I have about 5mbps and the TV is fine for us. Not sure what you are after but for example BBC news highlights, CNBC video highlights all work perfectly without pauses. The other day was watching a two hour stream of a concert and that worked fine also. I have the built in browser but rarely use it as it is too fidgety, unlike using a PC, but it worked fine for what i needed it for. hope that helps.

There are Apps available for smartphones so you can type in comfort rather than fiddling around with the remote control pointer / AaBbCc keypad, which makes things easier. The Samsung dedicated remote includes a small screen so you can watch what's on in a different room, which is dangerously addictive but stupidly expensive.

Make sure you do your homework on which set you want. There are a lot of stores selling these fancy looking sets from previous seasons without informing you you're buying older technology. I baulked at the prices and specs Interdiscount / MediaMarkt were asking and went straight to Digitec, who were great and a lot cheaper than the big boys.
