quick question, can I use the same card? I've searched on the sky site but couldn't find anything.

Not sure about the card, but you will need to upgrade your SKY+ Box to a SKY HD box.

If you get a new box then you need to pair the card with the box, and you can only do this by calling Sky, I did it with an IP phone that has UK number so no issues about being out the country

Only for Premium subscription channels such as the movies and sports. As the recording facility is no longer a subscription based feature (stopped many years ago) it should in theory work without pairing the card.

I called Sky with my Irish mobile (have Sky Ireland sub) and it took less than 5 min. You need to subscribe to the HD pack (which you probably know) to get the full pack (bar BBC HD, BBC One HD, CH4 HD etc...)

I had to replace my sky+ plus box last year and could not record or view any of the channels that I subscribed to until I had paired the card to the box, I could only watch the free to air channels.

You will not need a new card. If you've changed your sub to add the HD channels it should be automatic, but you may, and certainly if you're moving to a SKY+ box in the first place, will, need to call them and have the card activated for the new service.

When I acquired a SKY+HD box last year, with no added subs, the FTA HD channels (like BBC HD) were available, but none of the + capabilities would work until I'd had them enable my existing card for these new services (at no additional cost.

oops .. was too quick. I had to get a new card. But for a friend of mine, the old one worked. Not sure why this inconsistency
