| | | Cablecom Digital TV Dual Language Problem
I have a contact at SRG (Swiss TV) who, like all here who have bought a Cablecom digital TV package, is very annoyed to find that the dual-language system does not work on digital (OK on analog).
He writes: "SRG has put pressure on them (Cablecom) to adapt their set-top boxes to an international standard that will allow the reception of dual-language broadcasts etc. This is particularly important as SRG will be offering dual-language broadcasts in stereo/stereo by next spring (if all goes as planned)."
He suggest that as many people as possible should complain to Cablecom so that they fix the problem. Please post this to as many places as you can and perhaps Cablecom will listen...

Cablecom... nightmare!
You will need loads of patience to get this sorted. Try the customer services line and you will realize that every person you speak to has the same party line. They will not, they cannot or they are not allowed to help you. Robots!

They claimed it had something to do with how the broadcasts were done - one channel being language A and the other channel being language B, instead of stereo.
Very frustrating, as there are sometimes things that we'd like to record with the digital recorder in original language and can't.
I somehow believe that this will never be resolved |

If you are desperate, you can ask for someone who speaks English. You can wait or they will call you back.

This lack of dual language on cablecom digital (specifically on SFR channels) was a big disappointment for me too!... have to switch back to analog if there's anything I wanna watch.
Strange, however, that the digital version of the euronews channel works perfectly fine in 5 or 6 different languages!... |

I don't know if you guys noticed this already but the dual language now works for cablecom digital TV. When you know that the program is in dual, press "options" on your remote then you can change the language to the original language. Now, only the National Geographic doesn't work. The options allow you to change "soundtrack" but when you do change it, it will only stay for 1 second or so then revert back to German.

It was only council telly (non digital) that had dual language...

I noticed it 2 weeks ago. So, I guess it was very recent.

Well, that's that one sorted. Funny how CC just do things without informing anyone. Still this has always been their style...

you want them to write to their whole userbase about their technical victory? That's like admitting there was a problem... |

OK, can someone please do me a favour and see if they can get Eurosport 1 in English on digital? It's not working for me, all I get is German |

I'm still not getting dual language in Lausanne. Anyone know if this is a regional thing?
However, I do get Eurosport in English.

Sorry, I was wrong about Eurosport. I could've sworn I received it in English, but I don't. Must've confused it with my recent visit to London. |

| | | Re: Cablecom Digital TV Dual Language Problem Cablecom informed me that as far as Eurosport is concerned the sound is in German. This is also the case with Bluewin TV. I have been told that adding the English audio track would deteriorate the picture. Eurosport 2 is broadcast exclusively in English. In addition to National Geographic AXN is now also broadcast with English and German soundtracks. | |
