Xbox 360 + TV from Europe: Compatibility

Hello,

First of all let me introduce myself, since this is my first post in the forum. I'm Gonçalo Catarino, I live in Portugal and very soon I will be moving to Switzerland to work and live there.

I plan to take with some electronics, my LCD TV,desktop computer and Xbox 360. I searched on the web if it's compatible in terms of voltage and frequency and so far so good, here in Portugal and in Switzerland we use max 250v and 50Hz. My doubt in on the plugs. I know that on Switzerland is used type J connectors, SEV-1011 rated to maximum of 10A.Here in Portugal we use CEE 7/4 and CEE 7/16 rated max 16A.

For small apliances is not an issue because they all consume/uses ??? less than 10A just need to buy a universal converter, but for other things like my desktop computer, tv and xbox it's safe to plug them with adapter since all of them says on tech specs more than 10A?

Thanks in advance for your help

Best regards

Re: Xbox 360 + TV from Europe: Compatibility

Welcome to the forum and soon to CH.

I have had equipment from Australia ( non-EU ) as well as from France and Germany in Zürich running without any problems for the last 4 years. Mainly, these were IT related equipment such as routers and switches as well as household stuff such as irons, kettle etc. All had just the plughead converted ( no more than CHF5 a pop - just fix it and use ).

In short, it is a yes.

Thanks for your quick reply.

On my websearches i saw that type J connectors have a variant with 3 square pins and these are rated to 16A. Did you have this type at your house?

If i want to buy a large apliance machine like dishwashing machine, can i plug it?

Thanks

I have an an Xbox 360 and an LED projector from the us, a freezer from Germany and some basic appliances from France. As long as you get the adapter you will be fine. Only my Xbox is odd and needs a power converter, but that's because it's voltage limit is 110.

Thanks!

Already saw the topic suggested by jrspet and i think i got it. That limitation of the plug (10A) means that plug only supports some amount of power (W=V*A), more or less 2300W, so i only have to be careful if i want to plug imported power consuming electronics, nothing to worry about

Thanks for your time.

Regards
