| | | Who's responsible for the internet cable installation
Ok, so i got my dream flat as of april 1st next year in Brugg AG.
The only downfall is that the cables which are used to connect the internet are slow speed cables and have a max of 2mbps
Plus point is that as there is no cablecom tv installed, there is a satelite dish and receiver with a double card slot so can get british and swiss tv
My question is, who does the responsibility lie with to install the faster cables (20mbps) to allow me to use broadband. I think its IBB (electricity company), but is it at my cost? Should it not be a service which is provided to everbody like in the uk?
I have absolutely no neighbours, just some offices around who probably dont require a fast internet connection. Is there a way that i could influence the installation without it being charged to me? These telecommunication companies benefit in the long run from charging me and whoever else wants highspeed internet and i dont see why i should have to pay the installation just to pay a higher monthly amount on top of it
cheers for any advice

I'd be very surprised if a business doesn't have high speed internet. Usually businesses are the first to be targetted though doubtful that they have cable, more likely a version of DSL unless they are very large and want a dedicated line.
In Ireland (not very helpful I know), people have to wait until an area is supplied with cable before being able to request the service as the costs of cable installation (ie digging up of roads etc) are massive. If however all you need is to upgrade the cable in your apartment (which seems more likely) than an electrician does the deed I believe. Was the case in Fribourg anyway when we needed to get connected, however, the electrician was organised by UPC themselves(then cablecom) and we werent even charged.
I assume that you have asked your local cable company whether your house/ appartment is connected to the cable grid?
In any case, good luck!

Normal phone lines can do 20Mbps+, depending on how old they are, and how old the central is.
You're stuck.

We are using Tooway for satellite internet in Spain. Max is 10.2 Mb down. It is working pretty well. Best deal I see right now is with Tooway Direct, here: http://www.toowaydirect.com/purchase/
Might be an option for you. I wish I still had my Fiber Power 100 in Zurich!!!

It's 60Ch per month for DSL 5Mbit/s including the connection fee, plus a fixed telephone (VOIP), plus 49 for the WIFI router, and 79 for installation. And 100CH credit. And no minimum contract.
Good deal?
We're coming from a rocket stick that only gave us 10G of fast internet a month, which wasn't enough.

Read in details the contract because no minimum duration contract seems too good to be true.
You can use Comparis for the internet access provider. | Quote: | | | | | It's 60Ch per month for DSL 5Mbit/s including the connection fee, plus a fixed telephone (VOIP), plus 49 for the WIFI router, and 79 for installation. And 100CH credit. And no minimum contract.
