Question: Powerline + Sunrise = OK?

Hi,

I'm not a home network person, so forgive me if I appear completely stupid
I want the children to have their own PCs instead of us all sharing one...

Question:

Can I use Powerline with my current home "100% Sunrise" configuration?
Better Question: are there any Sunrise users who also use Powerline?

Background:

I want to buy this dLAN 500 AV Plus Powerline kit:

http://www.devolo.co.uk/consumer/82_...on_1.html?l=en

But I am concerned my somewhat out-of-date Hardware at home is not up to supporting it. Here is my Home Config:

Home = Newly built ca.2005. Other neighbours use Powerline, no problem but they are all Swisscom users.

PC(s) = Windows XP

ISP = Sunrise click&call 15000 Plus I am a bit of a Sunrise fan, never had any troubles with them.

Router = ZyXEL ADSL Prestige 600RU (non-Wireless) = installed March 2009:

I like the look of Powerline and I'm not really a Wireless fanboi.

Just wondering if anyone knows, else I'll go and practice my German with an 18-year old at the Airport Sunrise shop who doesn't know the difference between "bit" and "byte"...

Yes, powerline works on Sunrise even though it does not depend on the ISP.

Re: Question: Powerline + Sunrise = OK?

should be fine, the devolo's just act as an extended network cable, so plug one into your current router, then plug your kids pc into on wherever in your house and its like you plugged there pc into the router, simple.

I use the Develo's at home (but with swisscom) and they work fine

Oh great!
There's no issue with connecting Multiple PCs through Powerline to the Internet is there?
Someone at work suggested I might have IP issues connecting more than 1 PC? Ja, I confess, this Network stuff is getting over my head these days...

EDIT:
BigBlue2 just answered this question- thanks!

shouldn't be, I have a 4 port hub plugged into one and that doesn't give any issue (so 4 devices are connecting to 1 develo)

Re: Question: Powerline + Sunrise = OK?

Multiple PC's are handled via NAT on the router. They do not get assigned addresses by the ISP.

Re: Question: Powerline + Sunrise = OK?

for simplicity :

Only the modem gets an external (public) IP as UTH said.
Every other device gets a private IP which is only reachable within the Home Network. This is managed by the router.

PS: Powerline adapters can be wireless too in which case the device connects to the powerline adapter wirelessly.

Something like :

or a more complex version :
