Tuning LG English tv

I am trying to tune in my English TV using a standard television cable but when using the auto setup functionality it is not working.

Is there a certain frequency I should be using ?

Any advice or tips greatly appreciated

Since your location is "uk" the question might be better suited elsewhere. This forum is for questions regarding TVs in Switzerland?

That groan was a bit harsh, wasn't it? After all, your location did say UK.

Re: Tuning LG English tv

Some 20 years ago UK TVs wouldn't work here for two reasons:

1) Swiss analogue cable used 'hyperband' and UK TVs then didn't receive this.

2) UK TVs were sound shifted to avoid 'caption buzz', so that when used here you got picture with no sound.

I guess a modern TV with digital tuner should get free to air digital TV - all 5 channels. And if you have a digital box from Cablecom you should be OK too, but analogue cable may be a problem...

About your question, I won't be of much help. Had the same problem when we moved here from England and had to buy a new TV altogether.

It was pretty obvious my question was regarding Switzerland. Why would I post a question on how to tune an English tv in England on Swiss forums?

I see what you mean but, based on the information provided by you, it looked that you still lived in the uk. And there are some very weird people on the internet .
Anyway, I hope you get your question answered. Good luck.

Some TV sets a have a region/country setting somewhere in the setup menu IIRC. Have you checked that?

Re: Tuning LG English tv

Firstly, make sure you have the latest firmware: v03.21.61
Get it here:
http://www.lg.com/uk/support/product...alTab=warranty

Secondly - oh dear:
From the LE PDF user manual:
...Country(Except for 32/37/42LE49**,...

Looks like the LE49** has no country setting, which means it may be UK only!

Check under Options - Country

Also try a factory reset (Options - Factory Reset) and then a new scan for channels. It SHOULD find channels, maybe you may have problem with sound if it is UK only...

Re: Tuning LG English tv

Just get a cable box and use the scart or HDMI sockets, that way you don`t have to throw the TV away. Lots of apps and programmes for streaming UK television these days, with the pc or smart phones.

Re: Tuning LG English tv

Exactly what I do. Brought my 55" LG (55LV5500) here from the US. Cable box to TV via HDMI. It can also play video that resides on my PC via a DLNA server like Serviio (free software). HuluPlus, Netflix and Amazon are also viable options.
