I just had the cheekiest telemarketer on the phone. She rang up, and I answered (which I wouldn't normally do when I don't recognise the number, but I was waiting for a call from a repair company).

She then asked for Madame Something-or-other. I explained that wasn't me.

'Well, I can talk to you or your mother'. I said she had the wrong number as I lived alone that was not my name.

'Well actually this call is not personalised. Do you have a cat?' I said yes, as it happens I do but that I had chosen not to receive telesales calls.

'Why not?' I explained that it was my right to choose not to and I had exercised that right because I didn't want to be bothered.

'Not even to protect the health and well-being of your cat?' She then proceeded to try and sell me some kind of cat food. I hung up.

I couldn't believe it. And not a good marketing technique, to tell me I am a poor cat owner because I don't want to listen to telesales calls on behalf of my cat! That's going to make me want to buy her product. Not.
