Jail breaking IPad

Any good? I am thinking to jailbreak mine. I expect the program should be available in a week or two for the iPad 2.

I jailbreaked my IPod touch 4 years ago. It was a lot of work back then but it was totally worthed.

Any experiences to share?

It is not illegal! Under which law that would be? Apple lock their products to force people to stick on their products only. There is no where it says it is illegal to open a product you own.

Get your facts straight!

You're right... since 2010...

Although it's a bit "against the law" because you break apple's licence, but they don't sue individuals for that...

Re: Jail breaking IPad

The only illegal part they try to bring up is the fear of people breaking their licenses. But if someone want to jailbreak to have access to other developers it ain't illegal. Not even morally wrong. Now if someone wants to pirate it, it is an other story but it still under debate.

Nil,

look on iclarified.com - click the red star in the top corner and it will guide you through everything.

be aware the star is split in 2. 1 part is jailbreak, the other for unlock

Re: Jail breaking IPad

My.. err.. brother-in-law already jail broke his iPad 2 last summer. So what are you waiting for?

He is completely happy with that. Especially loads of "gratis" apps...

OK......but is it just a geek thing (no offense) to be able to do it to stick it to the man, or are there some killer apps out there which you just can't get from Apple?

I wanted to use my external bluetooth gps reciever on it (I only have the cheapo base model so no inbuilt gps) so I had no choice but the jailbreak it as apple wouldn't let you connect to external devices at that time, no idea if they have changed that policy now.

I also object to having to pay for software I have already paid for just because I have a new device, so from that point of view, yes I'm happy
