| | | Do You Know Why Everything on TV Is Dubbed?
by everything, I mean movies, tv series etc etc
im big time fan of How I Met Your Mother, Two and Half Men, Lost, The Walking Dead etc etc, not to mention I loooooveeee to see movie
if a book got translated, i understand, if one movie got dubbed, okay, i still want to understand
but every movie ? every tv show ?
ugh...
that just sad man...
some words are meant to be said in english
it lost its meaning sometimes, Barney sound stupid with his German voice, because he said a lot of English slangs, for example do u know why most european dubbed imported movies and tv series into their language ?
is reading subtitle too much to do or ?
any other particular reason ?
I dont know...
I love Switzy...but given to this fact, I less enjoy it

You're just saying that because your mother tongue is English and most TV series are in your native language. If these same TV series came from Hungary and were dubbed into the local language, would you still feel the same way?

There are a few channels that give you the choice. SF2, RSI1, RSI2 and one in the French part, if I'm not mistaken. Just go to your remote control and choose original language.
I always watch those series in English |

Go to Italy, everything is dubbed into Italian, France into French, etc. It's not just here.
No-one likes subtitles, anyway.

I hate watching dubbed TV and movies, I'd rather read subtitles TYVM. The local multiplex rarely has any movies in their original version, which is completely frustrating.

I have friends from Sweden and Finland who speak English very very well. Both credit English language shows and movies that are subtitled as the reason.
I know that when I watch a film that was done in another language, I much prefer to see in in that language with subtitles rather than being dubbed. Dubbed stuff is just weird. Though it is funny to watch the Simpsons in German sometimes .

Even on the news when somebody speaks they don't dub the person but add untertitles. I actually like it.
I was watching a Japanese movie recently and although I don't speak a word of Japanese I actually imagined I understood their speech. Subtitles are something you can get used to and after a while you stop realising you're actually reading.

Can't remember seeing anything dubbed there, all US/UK etc shows and films were subtitled and left in the original language. I actually found it really great for picking up new Greek vocab and I am sure that's one reason why lots of the younger generation speak a good level of english.
The worst is when the same actor dubs the whole show. Watching Baywatch in Turkey with the same guy reading all the parts (including the women's). Funny but weird.
