| | | Aldi prepaid internet simcard warning!
Aldi has a prepaid internet sim 10chf for 300mb.
I read it is appeared as a best deal on comparis.
But be aware that depiste of it's being 'prepaid', it goes negative if you use over that 300mb.
The person who experienced complained to Aldi C/S they said they had several complaints regarding this matter n reported to manager. But he still had to pay the negative off his account.
So be aware!!!

Probably better than being cut off IMHO! I pay 0.59 Euro per mb with abroadband when roaming, if only I could get 300mb prepaid everywhere I go for 10CHF. | Quote: | | | | | Aldi has a prepaid internet sim 10chf for 300mb.

C/S said some kind technical issue or sth. He isn't using it at the moment. He was saying he only used like 3 mins to read article on FT while he was on the train when he first went over his limit... Strange.
In common sense, it should stop when you use up your prepaid credit or usage. Prepaid simcard going negative unheard of. Aldi got some issue at the moment.

But in the U.K anyone can just buy prepaid. So giving negative credit to prepaid user, probably not a good idea.
However I am not in for getting negative credit on my prepaid card. I would like to control otherwise I will buy unlimited internet sim if I was to get unexpected surprise every month. ^^
Need to be careful with this prepaid card thing here in CH.

That seems very strange. Maybe there is something wrong. He should get a tracker app that tracks how many MBs he is using. There are some that even warn you when you are close to your limit.
He should also get a MB saver app. I use Onavo which is supposed to save some megs and track how much you use. But it does NOT warn you if you are reaching you limit.

I wish I had seen this thread before. Just got well and truly done over by Aldi Mobile. Their attractive CHF9.90 rate for 400MB converts to a massive CHF5 per MB if it runs out and you don't notice. That's about CHF15 a minute if you happen to be watching a YouTube video at the time. It's how they make their money, of course.
And it gets worse, because Aldi are quite happy to carry on charging you, even after your credit has run out. If you're on YouTube when your 400MB runs out, then you're in far a nasty surprise, as my son discovered, when he suddenly found he had balance of minus CHF60. He paid it off, like the good citizen he is, but then immediately ditched Aldi Mobile in favour of a Sunrise contract.
Now I am in a similar position, with a negative balance. It's not a huge amount, but that's not the point. I resent having to pay for something I didn't want. Where do I stand legally? Can they come after me for the balance? I would like to send the SIM card back to Aldi and tell them where to stick it.

Hmmm. Just checked their AGB (T&C), which are obscure, to say the least, but as far as I can make out they just say that payments will be deducted from the customer's credit. Can't see any mention about the customer's liability to pay for services used when there is no credit. On the other hand, they also don't say that Aldi must block the service when the credit goes negative.
However, their FAQs do mention the possibility that a credit amount may go negative (which sounds like an oxymoron) when making calls abroad, or using chat services, for example.
I sent them a grumpy email, asking them to wipe the negative amount off my account, so we'll have to wait and see what they say. My guess is "tough".

Just in case anyone else uses Aldi Mobile in Germany, note that they automatically renew data packages each month - so make sure to cancel the option at the end of your 30 days if you're not using it next month otherwise you could end up in negative credit a few months down the line!

Pre-paid uses a different billing system than post-paid accounts. Before you make a call, the system should check that you have enough credit, and if not, it should block the call. Sometimes they let you go a little over, just to be nice (maybe 5-10CHF). But 60CHF is way too much. I think something is worng with their billing system (or Sunrise's billing system, since Aldi uses Sunrise's network).
When you sign up for a pre-paid SIM card, your address is just registered for security purposes (ie: if a pre-paid SIM is used in a crime, the police can track the origin). The network operators don't send bills to pre-paid customers. If you have a negative balance of 60CHF on your SIM card, and throw it away, it's the network operators loss. Which is really why they should fix their billing system. Call to them and complain, so they are aware of the problem.
Meanwhile, take it into your own hands to monitor/track your usage. Since Aldi uses the Sunrise network, you should be able to use the same short-codes. To check your current balance, press *121# and then the green "call" button. (Swisscom is *130# and send) http://www1.sunrise.ch/Schnellabfrag...de_CH-CHF.html
You should also be able to check your balance and use on the internet: https://www.aldi-mobile.ch/de/kontomanager.html | | This user would like to thank esto for this useful post:

But they won't let me port the number, of course. | Quote: | | | | | Which is really why they should fix their billing system. And it was only because I checked on kontomanager that I noticed the negative balance. Normally I would just have topped up the credit by CHF30, and I would have been been very surprised and disappointed to see most of the CHF30 just disappear.
The point is that you can only check your balance - you can't check how many MB you have used, or how many you have left. If your 400MB are suddenly used up, and you happen to be downloading something on a fast connection, you could suddenly start racking up charges of CHF5 or 10 per second. That's scary.

If it's an Android or iPhone, there's plenty of apps you can download to monitor your data consumption directly on the phone and keep track of it that way. I have only 200MB data allowance, so I have to keep tabs on it as well. Normally thats enough for e-mails, a little web-browsing and some other background data and syncing. YouTube really sucks alot of data, if you want to watch videos via the mobile network you really need to have some kind of post-paid "unlimited" type data plan.
...but on a higher level, I agree with you, with a pre-paid plan, when your credit is up, your phone should stop.

As far as I know, my phone was just doing its normal routine things - updating stuff like email inbox, RSS, facebook etc. Altogether about 8MB overnight - CHF40.
CHF5/MB - that's not a realistic tariff, is it?

(max. Fr. 5.00 / Tag) | | | | | http://www.migros.ch/de/supermarkt/m...e-prepaid.html
M-Budget is cheaper and using the Swisscom network. Aldi Mobile is more expensive and using the Sunrise network. I'm not sure why anyone would take Aldi Mobile, but maybe I overlooked something
PS- If you have an Android phone, use "NetCounter", it keps track of your usage on a daily/weekly/monthly basis. And it's made by a Swiss guy too | | This user would like to thank esto for this useful post:

If your using more than this you should change your plan or surfing habits.
Conversely I've actually stopped using this function for a while as I wasn't using many megs for my 9,90 - although just a small amount of surfing can get close to this amount, anyway.
