| | | iTunes Rant (iTunes only in German)
I've tried a quick search, but didn't see anything. Does anyone know how to get ITunes to speak anything but German when you have a Swiss account?
I've tried contacting Apple to explain that 35% of the Swiss population don't speak German, but they don't (or won't) understand.
As soon as I open up ITunes I'm bombarded with a suggestions in German, which I'm just not interested in. Even trying to look for things in French (I live in the Suisse-Romande) is a challenge, nevermind English.
Why can't ITunes see that my IPad is setup in English?

There's nothing you can do to change this, but there is a work around if you set up a fake US store account using a US purchased iTunes voucher and a US street address. This also gives you access to US store content like cheaper movies and TV shows that are franchised for European distribution. If you check out some Apple resellers, they sell vouchers for around face value.

I have a Swiss iTunes account and all the "stores" (app, music etc) are in English.
I can only suggest you create a free uk or us one for free (and without the need of a credit card): http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/12936...a-credit-card/
then log into it with your new UK one, then logout, and back in with your swiss one. It should be in English, well it should be, as that's all I do when I get a new apple device and the store is at first in German.

Pat | | | | | I think the problem isn't that the store is english or german but rather that all the content is
We use the same technique suggested by Assassin. We buy iTunes cards in America and created a American store. Just don't put a credit card on the account or it will revert to wherever your account is registered to on the card. |

I have a Swiss iTunes account (through my bluewin email addy), and it communicates in English on every device on which it is registered (currently 3 PCs, 2 Macbooks, 2 iPhones, an iPad and an iTouch). However, if I wanted to rent a movie, it would only be available in the German dubbed version, for some reason.
Can you not change the language in your iTunes account settings?

Apple doesn't make it easy using the iTunes name to cover a number of different shopping areas/devices. I assumed the interface was the issue, not the content, sorry Edit
(that said, I now see the Swiss iTunes Movie store now has some English films:
so negotiations between content publishers and apple must be getting a little better, but I for the moment will continue to use my US account for films)

I also buy recharge cards when I'm visiting the US, or have friends who are traveling pick a couple of up for me, to avoid having to keep a US credit card only to use for my iTunes account.

Have the same problem - I had to set up a credit card account in the UK in order to get around it. Still looking for an easier solution but as of yet have not found one.

I thought you had to have a credit card to set up the account...I would rather have a US or UK one as some content is released earlier (songs from shows like Glee, for example) | Quote: | | | | | I have a Swiss iTunes account (through my bluewin email addy), and it communicates in English on every device on which it is registered (currently 3 PCs, 2 Macbooks, 2 iPhones, an iPad and an iTouch). That really irks me! We had a digital copy of some Barbie film, and while the integrity of the film really isn't linked to English or German, I would rather have the film in the original language. Also, I bought a dvd from amazon.co.uk for my son for Christmas, and I can only access the included digital copy with a UK or Ireland iTunes account. Annoying! Maybe I will look into setting up a UK one, I know my sister's log in info if needed for a US acct (like downloading free apps) |

Settings are on the amazon homepage under "Manage your kindle"...

I was browsing the UK itunes and was saddened to see that content and availability - unsurprisingly - is just so much better.
My question - is it worth setting up a US account vs. UK?
I have a sister in the US who could get me some cards and post them, but of course the UK is more convenient as I go there more often and have more friends there...
Thoughts?
