Got the iPhone 4S and was surprised that Siri cant locate areas here
in Switzerland, with respect to services etc.
Why is that? And will that change?

I tried Siri on one of the new iPhones, and even though I am a native English speaker, it could not understand me most of the time. Every time I tried to "send a message" it instead tried to "search for ovarian cancer"!

Siri can only find businesses etc in the US using US english.
However, you can get round this by asking SIRI to google what you want.
Re: understanding english - I have my 4S set to british english and found that at first SIRI had a few issues however, a few random conversations with SIRI later and I am fine (he even understands my early morning mumbles of "reset alarm for an hour").

Supposedly, yes. It's not labeled "beta" for nothing.

It has no problems in understanding me either as I am a native speaker aswell.
Though I must admit I love asking random questions and changing the accent from German, French, Scottish, Arabic and even Indian. The results are entertaining.

I wish that they change this soon though. It sucks not be able to get answers when asking for locations here in Switzerland.

On another note, anyone tried saying Zürich? She always comes back saying, " I do not know what Xeric is "? Cant shake the Züri- Deutsch accent.

English Siri works if you say zurich switzerland

I don't have too many problems getting Siri to understand me, but the utility is limited outside the US at the moment as others have said...

It does provide some useful stuff though. For the larger cities here it will give you the weather, for example, and it still works with all the built-in apps which is awesome.

Hopefully Siri will go global sooner rather than later.

So is the SIRI only difference between the IPhone4 and 4S?

Faster processor, more memory, better camera, upgraded antennae, Bluetooth 4.0, visually looks almost identical.

It's a better phone all round. If you have an iPhone 3 or even 3GS it's a giant leap forward. If you have a 4, then not so much.

However, the iPhone 5 is rumored to be coming summer-autumn of this year so, best to wait for that to upgrade.

And Siri.
