I haven't had a written bill from CC for years. Log on to your CC account and change your setting and save...

Just a word of caution on chosing Cablecom as your EMAIL account provider - when it comes time to MOVE you will have to continue with Cablecom (40 sfr / month) in order to keep your mail account - sounds crazy but this is what we were told. Anybody heard differently ?
That is exactly the same with pretty much EVERY service provider that gives you an email address, in the whole wide world.

The email address is part of the service you buy.
Cancel the service, you loose your email address.

That's why so many people use independent email addresses like gmail or hotmail. They are not tied to a service provider, and you can use them forever, or until Google / Microsoft etc change their service...

Hmmm I'm supposed to be on 100 Mb but am only getting 51.55 upload @ 11.04 this morning...
Wow that's fast

The 100Mbps service only has a 7Mbps upload. I've never measured more than 7.5Mbps

And you get 51.55???? WOW!!

Re: Upgraded my upc cablecom connection with excellent results

Do you know if you can get just internet from CC without TV or landline ?

I know with Swisscom you can't, must have a mobile phone with them or they force you to take a landline

Sky+ HD is not officially nor commercially available in Switzerland

Anyone installing it in Switzerland is breaking the terms and conditions of their service contract....

[Leans back, grabs the popcorn and waits...]
Of course! We all know that! Wish I still had Sky+ HD here...

Can't you switch to the German Pack to get these? I know in Biel I can choose between the German and French packages. I usually run the German pack for the UK channels but when I want to see the rugby on France 2 in HD I switch to the French pack!

Re: Upgraded my upc cablecom connection with excellent results

Doh! Of course I meant 51 Mbps download. Which is much better than I just got at 22.52:

Hmmm methinks I should keep an eye on this and check with them what they think they're providing because I'm paying for the power combi package with 100 Mbps

Re: Upgraded my upc cablecom connection with excellent results

Any experience with change of address costs with cablecom?
The current combi deals are pretty attractive and have been extended through to the end of March, however I will probably be moving a month or two after this.
Would it be best to sign up before moving to lock in the combi deal and then go through the 'pleasure' of an address change or take a chance cablecom will extend the deal another couple of months?

I've had upto 82mb download before. It's running through Devolo port thingies.

When I moved, it worked like a dream. I got a new contract with the 100mb combi deal, they cancelled my old contract and started the new one on the day I moved, no problems whatsoever.
I had to pay a connection fee at the new place, could have been CHF99, not sure. Otherwise no fees for changing contracts etc

Don't put too much belief in speedtest.net...

Very odd! SpeedTest.net has been extremely accurate for me over the years (i.e. the speed it shows me is the same speed I download at when using newsgroups).

Perhaps you are getting these extreme speeds?

Actually, judging by the dates on these tests could have been glitches when you ran them...

I had consistently good results for a long period. It was no glitch.

People want to believe what they want to believe. They get a good test , they believe the result, they get a bad test , there is a problem. Speedtest.net is a very poor test for achievable speeds. Use Cablecom's internal Speedtest. You need to test how fast your link to Cablecom is , not how fast the internet is. That's what Cablecom are selling you. Far too many variables when testing to a 3rd party server.

I have a 30 Mbps CC connection in a rental apartment. It's consistently around 31.5. Speedtest AND downloading things over an hour or more.

Re: Upgraded my upc cablecom connection with excellent results

I also recently switched to cablecom and have the Thomson router as well. My experience: fast (30-85 Mb/s) ... but only within close proximity to the router.

The connection in other parts of the flat using the built in wifi on the Thomas was inconsistent to non-existent. I've had better experience turning off the wifi and connecting it via cable to an airport express. That's expanded the range, but the connection is still much slower/unstable away from the "base station."

Any suggestions would most appreciated!

We're thinking of changing to Cablecom, are you saying you don't get BBC4 at all? It is advertised on their website. Would hate to lose BBC4.

The German region get more channels than the French or Italian regions

In terms of TV, Swisscom wins hands down. In terms of price and fast internet cablecom wins.
