Mobile phone subscription ( breaking a contract )

Hey guys

I have a question, I´m moving to Zurich the end of the month and I have this question about a mobile subscription. Imagine that I subscribe an orange contract for 24months and for some reason I have to return to my country or elsewhere, what happened? I can simple leave Switzerland with the phone without pay for the rest of the contract or I have to pay all?
Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum. No freebies - you have to pay it all off. When leaving CH ( deregistration - you can search the forum on this word for more answers and shared experience ), you can send the deregistration paper to the phone company. They may allow you to "break the contract" by paying a lesser amount than you otherwise are contractually and legally to pay.

When searched, you will threads like this:

Can I cancel an Orange contract?

Usually a 12 or 24 month contract is including the purchase of a hand held device at a heavily subsidized price and if this is the case, you will be asked to pay full as per the contract.

If you decide to pull a fast one, don't forget that the phone company can bar your hand held device and have it black listed on the GSM net through the IMEI number making it useless (unless you can some ninja tricks which I would recommend you not to do).

If you have a contract without a purchase included you can get out of the contract based on the terms stated in your contract. When I lived in Paris I had Orange on a 12 month contract but had to leave and move to Switzerland due to work. I sent a copy of my B-Permit and work contract and sent it to Orange who then in turn annulled the contract I had with them (had something like 8 months left).

Hope this brings some clarity...

Swisscom charges a 300 CHF early termination fee. However, I know that in some cases they will waive it - if you provide proof of emigration such as a Abmeldebestätitung.
