Small Electronic Power Supplies

Apologies if this has been asked somewhere else -- I did some searches of the forum but couldn't find it. I'm planning a move from the US to Switzerland later this year, and I am wondering about small electronics, the types that typically have a power brick that plugs into the wall and a cord that plugs into the device. Things like WiFi routers, external hard drives, USB hubs, that sort of thing. I know that most of the big computer equipment can handle the higher voltage in Switzerland, and I can get European style power cords to replace the US plugs I have now. Is the same true of smaller electronics power cords? Can I go to one of the electronics stores in Zurich and buy replacement power adapters that will let me use them, or will I have to replace them all when I get there?

Re: Small Electronic Power Supplies

If you know the power requirements, no problem.

Re: Small Electronic Power Supplies

welcome and good luck with the move...

The smaller items you mentioned will be on something like a 12-15-14-24 DC volt suppy transformed down from the AC 110 US or 230 V european main suppy. via The transformer (Brick) as you called it....

you could repurchase the transformers here (if available) for each appliance.....depending on the supply/maker...

It's quite a large jungle out there with cables adapters etc...not impossible but you will have a few headaches getting it all sorted...

all the best

That's exactly what I was thinking about. In the US, there are universal AC/DC adapters, which switches that you can use to change them to a variety of different settings. Are they available in Switzerland?

Re: Small Electronic Power Supplies

yes, there is running water and toilets here also on a serious note power adaptors are no problem but TBH - just look on ebay and buy all the adaptors you need inc some spares because the costs of the adaptors in CH are stupid.
