Satellite TV alternative

Hi guys,
I'm studying question about getting English speaking television here in Switzerland. I don't like idea with satellite television.

Is anybody from Uk can advice me streaming television? I mean I will get coded TV signal via internet and decode it with some device (payed subscription). I might suppose it should be wide presented on TV market.

Why nobody speak about this way of getting TV here?

Re: Satellite TV alternative

Zattoo.com has several UK English channels, and is free, although subscriptions are invited for better quality picture and no ads.

However it appears they are having a connection/server problem at the moment - which is very rare, normally.

Re: Satellite TV alternative

I use zattoo quite a bit and also have a registered account. I have a very fast internet account (for switzerland) and can say if you sign up and pay the video is not much better than the free version, this is unless you have a slow connection. I also "hotspot" my phone to give me an internet connection via my ipad (not 3g) and the video is still very good.

With a pay account its very quick to switch channels, this is good because they dont always show what is on each channel in the menu.
